We’re proud to support refugee doctors, who make an invaluable contribution to patient care. #WorldRefugeeWeek

ALT A black-and-white photo of a person looking out of a floor-to-ceiling window. We cannot see their face, but it looks like they may be taking a moment to think or relax. Caption: "Not only has this fund helped me financially, but has given me that peace of mind not to worry about the costs of things that will help me in my future goals. I've been able to pay for my clinical attachment, exam fees and online exam subscriptions." —From a beneficiary helped by the RMBF’s refugee doctor programme #WorldRefugeeWeek

I was a doctor. The stigma of mental illness in medicine led me to leave a profession that I'd once loved.
I've opened up in the @bmj_latest in an attempt to start a conversation about mental illness in medics.

Here’s my latest pictorial describing “what is clinical governance” in #NHS #Healthcare
Governance is not and should not be used as “red tape” or “hinderance”
It is the fundamental backbone for keeping patients safe, cared for and well during our care.

There is a big misconception that a doctor could be struck off by the GMC for having a #mentalillness.
This instills fear & perpetuates the #Stigma and reluctance to seek help.
In many cases, the #GMC needn't even get involved.
This shouldn't stop you from reaching out.

I'm a doctor.
I'm also a primary teacher, a mum, a wife.
I have #bipolar disorder & #anxiety.
Twice a day, I take these tablets. Every week I go to therapy.
But I'm too scared to reveal who I really am
#Stigma gags me.
This is the reality of life with #mentalillness
