About Sequoia closing their London office:
No US firm has ever deeply cared about Europe on a firm level. There are people in charge (for a time) who might, there are people on the team who do.
Prices go high in SF, people expand their reach to Europe. Market contracts, people are ‘back to the essence’. There are other reasons, mostly personal for individual partners, that wax and wane similarly.
It doesn’t matter.
Just keep building in Europe. If you make this event a watershed moment about our continent and ecosystem, you never really had the conviction.
This place is hundred times better than it was 20 years ago, and it will be hundred times better 20 years from now.
Read up on the Learjet accident, overspeed stall and mach tuck.
Think I’ll add “Never fly a Learjet” right below “Never fly helicopter with a teetering rotor hub” on my list.
Ladies & Gentlemen, we have managed to get the @EUCouncil ' EU Inc files. The ones that matter. The ones where we see the position of Each Member state: including who pushed the notaries' agenda.
Buckle up and Repost. 🍿 Now if you are from those Member States, make some noise.
Directly or through associations, politicians. Enjoy the thread 🧵 1/

“Pretty early on I realized that quite a few VCs, they are not very operational, and they can be actually dangerous for the company if they have enough power. So every single investment round, we just remove VCs. Now I don't have any VCs on the board. I think that's the best.”
Revolut founder Nik Storonsky says one of his investors tried forcing him to fire his best person:
“He was forcing me to fire my best person, because he was too hardcore.”
“Of course I didn’t fire him. I said no.”

Leaving this here, PHP 8.5.12 security patch is incomplete. ( needs further validation )
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The PHP 8.5.12 release fixes the two specific CVEs (via state/bailout changes) detailed in official advisories; referenced "surviving paths" (e.g. var_destroy UAF) are separate pre-existing unserialize issues unrelated to this patch.

At this point the whole EU Inc negotiations are so lost in the details that everyone forgot the main goal: Creating a standard.
Basically, allow founders to raise quickly globally and use stock options to hire competitively.
Let’s say it quite clearly:
1) If EU Inc isn’t providing a standard it’s useless. We already got 30+ legal entities in Europe. Experienced founders use Delaware Inc already because of this.
2) If EU Inc doesn’t fix stock options Delaware Inc is still the better option.
I understand the there are complex details and people are worried about loopholes. But you can’t lose the actual goal of it because of it.
An EU Inc that doesn't provide a standard is pointless. Nobody will care about intricacies of compromises reached in political committees if the market can't use the outcome.
If you are in contact with your political leaders (prime ministers, presidents, et al) please reach out to them. Or to founders/investors in your network who might have that access.

Ich hab da mal was angefangen.
Aktuell hilft Adler AI mit Infos. Step by Step.
