Priti Patel was given a shadow great office of state after the Tories' defeat. That is not a party which understands the gravity of its actions, or is willing to repent for them

The Tories have no place in democratic politics. The scale of the immigration betrayal is such that nothing less than a total disavowal and banishment of the people responsible should permit the party to re-enter the arena.

This misunderstands the geographic fracturing of British politics since the 2024. Due to the catastrophic failures of the 2019-24 Tory governments over immigration the populist right are now a permanent feature of British politics based on geography, age & social class.

Honestly, everyone who has encouraged “Young Bob” to persist in this behaviour should be ashamed. He’s a teenager who’s obviously several sandwiches short of a picnic. He should be painting Necrons in his bedroom and frotting himself to sleep on a futonari pillow, but instead, on a rare occasion when he isn’t getting the shit kicked out of him in the street, here he is admitting on camera—because he’s so dim—that he did indeed say what he’s alleged to have said. What a sad, sad pointless way to ruin your life.

Young Bob has been arrested. Apparently, he called someone the P-word, but he claims that someone asked him about it and he said it was acceptable to use it.

There was NO way I was mirroring that shit, so with the broadest, loudest, Scottish accent you'll ever hear I told them I thought it was " fucking great, about time you elected a man of colour "
The conversation came to an abrupt halt.

Yes, although I think the chances of them actually winning an election in the near future are really slim (aside from as a result of an economic crisis or something similar), especially if Labour don’t totally bungle it and undo all their progress on immigration.

I remain optimistic but the prospect of a Tory recovery is just so depressing, much more so than a 10-year Burnham reich. The media have so much to answer for.

The idea that there are educated people with high-paying jobs walking among us, and in droves, are willing to go “you know what, I’ll give the Tories another chance” is too depressing to even contemplate.

Hard to clutch pearls at the Englishness discourse when you have Begums and Hussains in Parliament advocating for their cousins in Bangladesh and Pakistan
1 in 20 people in Bangladesh live in extreme poverty, facing multifaceted challenges from rising living costs to the climate crisis and more.
In Sylhet, the APPG on Bangladesh met former tea garden workers in the minority Urang community, to learn more about them and @BRACworld’s Ultra Poor Graduation approach.
Since 2002, this approach offers a time-bound pathway to agency, dignity and control over resources, for those in poverty so entrenched that they would not benefit from micro finance.
A trial by the LSE found 95% of participants continued to improve their living standards when measured 11 years after interventions ended.

Apsara Begum is a UK MP. Due to the huge amounts of post about issues in Bangladesh it is important that her constituents realise she is supposed to be representing them.
