I still remember when I sat in ULA headquarters and their lead mechanical engineer explained to us that reusability was in fact impossible, or more precisely, that the amount of extra fuel and equipment would render net payload reduced to zero.
Impossible is a funny word. $TSLA teapaw.org/SpaceX/status/99503690โฆ

Whoโs ready for the era of abundance?
You mean to tell me we were living in peak Tesla in 2025?

We need to figure out a way to change his mind in the next 8 months
Replying to @Scobleizer
We are still building Cybertruck for another 8 or 9 months btw, but then Tesla needs to focus on scaling Cybercab.
There will never be another vehicle like it.

what if..
I shit you not
You didn't cancel Cybertruck?
What if........
you built another building on the expansive open acreage in Austin.

Tesla no longer making cars is going to suck big time. Gas cars are freaking terrible.

This whole โwe need to focus on Cybercabโ thing might be the dumbest thing Iโve ever heard.
Seriously, have we forgotten how the automotive industry works?
Look at Teslaโs competition:
Ford: Sold 4.4 MILLION vehicles globally in 2025, across multiple vehicle segments and markets, including North America, Europe, China, and Australia.
General Motors: Offers roughly 36 different models across Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac. Sold approximately 6.2 MILLION vehicles globally in 2025.
GM alone offers everything from affordable crossovers to full-size pickups, luxury SUVs, performance cars, commercial vehicles, and EVs.
These companies arenโt putting all their eggs in one basket. Theyโre competing across different price points, vehicle categories, and markets simultaneously.
Yet somehow, weโre supposed to believe Tesla canโt develop a Cybercab AND continue expanding its consumer vehicle lineup?
Why canโt Tesla build an affordable compact EV? A larger family SUV? A commercial van? A next-generation Roadster? AND a Cybercab?
Cybercab should be an addition to Teslaโs future, not a replacement for everything else.
The idea that a company with Teslaโs resources and ambitions needs to focus almost exclusively on one vehicle is ridiculous.
Tesla should be expanding into MORE markets, MORE segments, and MORE price points. Not limiting itself to fewer opportunities.

Cancelling the Cybertruck is a far worse decision than making it.

January 28: Elon said the Cybertruck line would go fully autonomous.
This week: itโs being wound down for Cybercab.
What changed? The Cybertruck line is Teslaโs most autonomy-ready platform. My full analysis below. Tell me my blind spots.
Another rent seeker.

Elon Musk said yesterday that @Tesla will probably rent Optimus robots rather than sell them.
Iโm guessing youโd pay a monthly subscription or have it usage-based instead of paying to own the robot.
The payment would cover insurance, maintenance, repairs, etc. The economics make sense for the company, and it creates a lower barrier of entry for consumers instead of something in the $30k+ range, which would be like buying a new car.
I guess one benefit of being early on autonomy is we will be able to sell the company cheap. $TSLA
