Imho the under-discussed aspect in the microstructure debate is how FCFS is simply the lowest latency ordering rule for all participants.
Every other (non-forward time) rule requires you to wait after your transaction already landed, as execution depends on subsequent events. This applies to everything from Maker Priority, FBA, FBO, and taker speedbumps.
Probably a major reason for its dominance in tradfi markets.
