It is really my privilege to be part of SLPA the amazing Latinx community at @Stanford shout-out to Fátima the other co-chair (teapaw.org/StanfordLPA/status/144…) and thanks to @LSRFdtn @StanfordCEHG & @FraserLab who have made my time here possible. ¡Gracias!
Sur Herrera Paredes (@sur_hp) from 🇲🇽 is our co-chair, and he studies bacterial genetic diversity to understand the genetic basis and evolutionary consequences of host-microbe interactions

Thrilled to share that I joined @WeizmannScience to start my own lab! We will study how gene regulation shaped human evolution: gokhmanlab.com. I am looking to recruit👩🔬👨🔬, so please RT!
Diversity: We believe that diversity is essential, not only to improve our science but our society as well. We encourage those with a variety of experiences and backgrounds to apply to our lab, and are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone. 8/n
Contact: Please contact Hunter Fraser by email ([email protected]) with your CV and cover letter. 7/n
Qualifications: Should have a PhD in a relevant field, ideally with a strong background in experimental and/or computational aspects of yeast genomics, including next-gen sequence data analysis and statistics. 6/n
We have recently developed a CRISPR-based genome editing method capable of high-throughput precise genome editing in yeast, enabling genetic screens for complex traits with single-nucleotide resolution (Sharon et al, Cell 2018). 4/n
Our main focus is on the evolution of gene expression, since this is the primary fuel for natural selection. Our long-term goal is to understand the genetic basis of complex traits well enough to introduce them into new species via genome editing. 3/n
Our work brings together quantitative genetics, genomics, epigenetics, and evolutionary biology to achieve a deeper understanding of how genetic variation shapes the phenotypic diversity of life. 2/n
🧬Postdoc Opportunity🧬
The Fraser Lab at Stanford University is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team. We study the evolution of complex traits by developing new experimental and computational methods. 1/n

These hybrid cells can be differentiated into a wide range of cell types and 3D organoids in order to uncover the genetic basis of human-specific traits. There are many exciting applications of this technology that could be explored by a postdoc. 5/n
We have recently developed a new platform for studying human cis-regulatory evolution: human-chimpanzee hybrid stem cells (Agoglia et al, Nature 2021; Gokhman et al, Nature Genetics 2021). 4/n

Check out our new work with @aleks_nivina @FraserLab & Chaitan Khosla out in @PNASNews. We find a new type of repetitive genetic element (GRINS) which is quite common in polyketide synthases, and plays a role in the evolution of these biosynthetic clusters pnas.org/content/118/26/e210…
