On the Alexander Volkanovski vs. Movsar Evloev Rewatch:
Volk may have started winning this fight long before the walk. He played buddy buddy with Evloev since before the bout was announced. Evloev thought he was getting into a martial arts competition with a respected opponent. Volk went in like it was a life or death cage fight with millions on the line. Volk’s mental game was a major factor.
As always, Volk’s jab was big. Stiff jab, off-time jab, 1-2, delayed 1-2. Its an underrated part of his game that branches off into the rest of his offense.
Evloev actually did a good job of chaining punches to the end of his wrestling sequences. The best shots he landed came after Volk disengaged from wrestling. This is a new wrinkle to his game that’ll be a real difference maker for him moving forward.
Once Volk heard the ten second clapper, he immediately reared up to land optically big shots to make Marc Goddard step in. Evloev looked mentally and physically spent in that moment and less experienced fighters may not have added all the elements of timing, geography and opponent’s mental state in real time.
Guys, Volkanovski is 38-years-old and he just stopped an undefeated Russian in his physical prime. Top of arguably the deepest weight class in MMA. He stays active, great to the fans and makes a mean Volkano Beef Burger. Short, bald men unite around your king.

People keep asking why @Zuffa_Boxing hasn't run a US show since July outside of Garcia vs. Benn.
It's a budget question.
Garcia-Benn was expensive. Purses were reportedly ~$30M combined, and Zuffa had to co-promote with Golden Boy to get Garcia.
That's one event eating a budget that normally covers 4–5 shows. And it's not a PPV. There's no fight-night windfall to pay it back, so the cost gets earned back over time as lifetime value of the subscriber matures.
Scheduling is the other constraint. Paramount doesn't want Sunday shows against the NFL, and doesn't want boxing head to head with UFC on Saturdays except in rare spots like Garcia-Benn.
The UK shows exist to service the Sky Sports deal. They aren't built for a US audience.
Next up: 2 Riyadh events in November. That's a heavy schedule for a promoter in its first full year, with strong distribution in both the US and UK.
2027 is the big year. Expect large investors to want into the $TKO - Saudi JV.
And before the Low IQ’s say it — GARCIA V BENN WAS A ZUFFA BOXING EVENT. RING IS TURKI WHO IS SELA WHO IS ZUFFA WHO IS TKO.

Oct 25, 1999: A private jet carrying golfer Payne Stewart flew across half the country with everyone on board unconscious, until it ran out of fuel and crashed in South Dakota.
Stewart was one of the most popular players in golf, known for wearing old-fashioned knickers and flat caps on the course. That June he had won the US Open at Pinehurst by sinking a 15-foot putt on the final hole. In September he helped the US win the Ryder Cup.
On Oct 25 he took off from Orlando in a Learjet headed for Dallas with five others. Shortly after takeoff the plane lost cabin pressure. Without oxygen at that altitude, everyone on board would have passed out within moments.
When the plane stopped responding to air traffic controllers, the Air Force sent fighter jets to check on it. The pilots could see the windows frosted over and no movement inside. The Learjet kept flying on autopilot for about four hours, drifting northwest across the country, while the whole nation watched it on the news.
It ran out of fuel and crashed into a field in South Dakota. Everyone on board was killed. Stewart was 42.
There's a statue of him at Pinehurst, fist raised, frozen in the moment he made that putt to win the US Open.

🚨 Islam Makhachev explains why he turned down the Carlos Prates fight in January
"They offered me a fight with Prates, who recently lost to [Ian Garry], someone I beat. If I beat him, Morales would already be next in line, who's not fighting and waiting for [a title shot].
Just let them fight and we will figure out who's the real challenger."

I will never forget the day that I watched Democrats refuse to stand for Iryna Zarutska’s mother at the State of the Union.
It was so shockingly evil, that even while I watched it, I could barely believe it.
Honestly, I still can’t.
It was so insanely radicalizing.

Another eventful week in college football (week 8), I spent the early afternoon at Hard Rock Stadium watching the Hurricanes blow out Pitt. Later on a full schedule of games took place that once again will shake up the top 10.
This season is showing that football is more than ever, a week-to-week sport...
- So the prime time game saw Texas hold on to beat Ole Miss in Austin. And this was the full Arch Manning Experience. There were splash plays that opened your eyes as the Longhorns jumped on the Rebels to a 24-3 first half lead. And then in the second half some plays from Arch that had you wincing. The question is, which version of Manning( 18 for 30, 212 yards, 1 TD/2 INTs) is closer to the reality?
As Ole Miss tied it up, late in the game it was the UT run game spearheaded Raleek Brown (23 carries ,157 yards) that gashed them late. It's interesting, did Steve Sarkisian find something late as he lost faith in Manning?
On the flip side, I thought Trinidad Chambliss played his most skittish game I've seen.Regardless, Texas stays alive in the playoff race.
- Coming into the week, the Big 12 had three teams in the AP to 10. And two of them had to go on the road -- and they both lost.
BYU coming off that emotional high was upset by UCF in overtime, 39-31, as Keyone Jenkins tossed three TD's. You had a feeling that BYU would have some issues hitting the road after their monumental victory over Notre Dame last weekend.
There was nothing fluky about the Golden Knights victory, they had more first downs 926-18) and total yards, 463 to 373.Then you had the 'Sorsby Bowl', where Cincy hosted the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Bearcats came out with a 37-24 victory. Texas Tech hasn't been nearly as dominant as they were last season and Saturday was a full example of that.
Cole Tabb had a big day on the ground (16 carries, 173 yards, 1 TD). I gotta give the Cincinnati credit, they haven't fallen off the face of the earth this season and are now 5-2.
- Later on, Utah won grinding affair versus Houston at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Cougars had opportunities early on to really separate themselves from the Utes, but they found the sledding tough near the goal line. Still, they had a 10-0 lead in the second half.
But over time, Utah just began to control things physically upfront, and they eventually ran for over 200 yards (while Devon Dampier also threw for 200-plus yards. Late in the game, Utah just ran the ball at will on Houston, scoring two fourth quarter touchdowns to win 21-13.
- Has Shane Beamer saved his job at South Carolina? Cocktober is in full effect. They pulled one off late versus Tennessee, who might have nightmares over this loss. SC was down late, and they had a big defensive stop late (still wondering why the Vols didn't give the ball to DeSean Bishop in that situation) and then a late George MacIntyre fumble opened the door for them to kick a walk-off game winning.
Down late, they somehow found a way to come out on top 27-24.The previously suspended, Dylan Stewart, made some plays defensively for South Carolina, who is one point (versus Kentucky) from being on a three game winning streak. I'm still not sold on LaNorris Sellers as an upper level college quarterback.
- So Lincoln Riley was allowed on the flight back to Los Angeles, huh? At this point I think most Trojan fans believe he deserved to fly coach class on Frontier Airlines.
The Trojans went up to Madison, and got skunked by Wisconsin, 24-7.What's amazing is that Colton Joseph had all of 58 yards passing on 14 attempts - and the Badgers still won by 17 points (24-7).
This is another in a long list of bad east coast Big 10 road trips for the Trojans. It seemed all set up for USC, beat Wisconsin, and then you have Ohio St. with their backup quarterback at the Coliseum. Now, this looks like an absolute must-win (for his job) for Riley, who hasn't made a lot of friends in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, big win for Luke Fickell, who has his team standing at 5-2.- Just when I thought Iowa's offense was a bit better than usual -- they reverted to being Iowa. They put up all of 10 points in a 13-10 loss at Minnesota. Yeah, Iowa's offense went Iowa's offense.
PJ Fleck has his guys rowing the boat to a 5-2 start. This isn't an easy job in the Big 10 and he just consistently finds a way to churn out 7-8 victories a year on a consistent basis for the Golden Gophers.
- UCLA keeps rolling behind back up Ty Dieffenbach, they vanquish a bad Michigan State squad, 28-10. It's clear what their game plan will be moving forward: run the ball (48 carries for 245 yards, and touchdown each for Wayne Knight, Javian Thomas and Anthony Woods) and lean on a really stout defense.
Sammy Omoshigo is playing at an All-American level for the Bruins on defense, who gave up just 156 total yards. UCLA held the ball for nearly 36 minutes. UCLA is now 7-0, and should be favored in every remaining game. However, I do think trips to Minnesota and Michigan will be difficult.
- Colorado played a really good half versus Oklahoma St. They were actually up 24-23 at the half, and then got swamped in the second half, 34-0. 'the Touchdown Maker' Drew Mestaker had another big game as he continues to move up NFL draft boards (21 for 36, 386 yards, 4 TDs), and Caleb Hawkins chipped in 120 yards on the ground to lead a balanced and explosive Cowboys offense.
It's clear the honeymoon between the Buffalo fan-base and Coach Prime is over. It's to a point now where one of them is now at the (hotel, motel) Holiday Inn as they call divorce lawyers and weigh their options. CU is now on a five game skid after beginning this season 2-0.

Another theory presented to me by @TheStarched — Islam is considering retirement. It wouldn’t be shocking. Maybe UFC said hey keep it quiet for now & maybe you’ll change your mind. It’s illogical to think Dana didn’t know why he didn’t want to fight in January prior to Ramadan

‼️ UPDATE — The Air Force sergeant who fell 170’ to his death from the Alamodome rafters in front of thousands of football fans had waited a year for the chance to take part in that military demonstration.
Now his grieving father is revealing how excited they were about the opportunity that would tragically leave two little boys without their daddy.
Tech. Sgt. Ian Patterson was just 33 when he fell during a rappelling demonstration before Saturday’s UTSA and Navy football game in San Antonio, Texas.
His father, John Patterson, told Kentucky television stations WDRB and WAVE that Ian had hoped to participate in the annual tribute the previous year but didn’t get the chance.
“I was very excited. I believe he wanted to do it last year as well,” John recalled in the interview with them. “He didn’t do it last year. So this year he had the opportunity.”
Ian had served his country for 15 years, following in the footsteps of his father, an Army veteran.
But behind the uniform was a loving husband and father to two little boys, ages 6 and 3.
His wife, Niki, is now facing the heartbreaking reality of raising their sons without him.
Her brother has started a fundraiser to help with living expenses and eventually moving closer to family. And as of Thursday morning, more than $160,000 had been raised to support them.
Ian’s father remembers a hardworking, kind young man who loved baseball, especially the Colorado Rockies, and was proud to serve his country.
When asked what he wanted people to remember about his son, John told WDRB and WAVE:
“I just want to let people know that he was a wonderful man. I love him.”
Meanwhile, Ian’s fellow airmen are promising to stand beside his children as they grow up.
Ramiro Villalobos with the TACP Foundation told our reporter at Fox SA:
“We’re there because dad can’t be.”
The Air Force is still investigating what caused Ian’s fatal fall.
Please keep Niki, their two little boys and Ian’s grieving parents in your prayers.
And if you have a moment, leave this family a message of comfort and encouragement.
I hope those boys grow up knowing just how much their daddy was loved.

We are in the midst of yet another sell off. Here’s a summary of the all the sell offs that have happened just *this year*.
2026’s major selloffs have revolved around three questions: Does AI threaten existing businesses? Will oil force rates higher? And will AI spending earn an adequate return?
• LATE JAN–EARLY FEB: The software scare. Anthropic’s new tools raised fears that AI would undermine established software businesses. Software/services fell as much as 17% in six sessions. Buying returned Feb. 6–9, but that initial bounce wasn’t a full recovery.
• MARCH: The Iran/oil shock. Disrupted energy supplies raised inflation fears, reduced hopes for rate cuts and threatened growth. Selling extended into March 30. The turnaround was fast: peace-deal optimism and easing economic fears helped push the S&P and Nasdaq back to records April 15—just over two weeks later.
• JUNE: The interest-rate reset. Disappointing Broadcom results rattled chips, then strong jobs data increased fears of Fed hikes. Nasdaq fell 4.2% on June 5 alone. A rebound began the next session as buyers returned and Iran/Israel halted attacks. But selling resurfaced later in June. This wasn’t a clean V-shaped recovery.
• JULY: Another AI unwind, compounded by oil and tariff pressure. Semiconductors were more than 20% below their late-June high by July 17. Rallies started July 20–21, with strong Amazon and Microsoft earnings strengthening the rebound late in the month. Recovery continued into August and September.
• OCTOBER: AI financing and return concerns, hotter inflation and renewed oil pressure. Nasdaq lost 4.5% the week ended Oct. 16. Buying returned Oct. 19–21, but selling resumed Oct. 22. No confirmed recovery yet.
The recurring lesson: stocks turned before every problem was resolved. Easing oil pressure and evidence that earnings could hold up brought buyers back. October still needs to pass that test.
