As a woman and a rape survivor, I was brought to tears reading the horrific accounts of the UK grooming gang scandals. Young girls were subjected to unimaginable sexual abuse, while authorities at multiple levels failed to protect them. I was heartbroken, horrified, and angry. I abhor the people who perpetuated that violence justified by their extremist ideology. I took down my original post within hours because my anger was directed at the extremism used to justify these horrific crimes, not at Muslims or their faith.

Anna Kindy stood outside the Legislature and said COVID vaccines aren’t safe, and getting COVID is better than getting vaccinated. Vaccine misinformation made the pandemic worse and has led to Canada losing its measles elimination status. Lorne Doerkson should fire her today.

It makes me uncomfortable to see creepy guys joke that they’re supporting Emily Lowan because she’s pretty & young. It’s actually really chauvinistic. Agree with her ideas or don’t, but don’t reduce her to only her looks. We can do better — and we definitely ought to do better.

As sent to my constituents: Hi everyone, I’d like to let everyone know that yesterday the BC Conservative leadership team and board canceled my membership. Their position is that I violated the bylaw they cited for “publicly supporting another political party” when I voted to take a bill on FOI to committee. The BC Conservative leadership and board who are making these decisions are deeply unserious. Cancelling moderate conservatives memberships during the leadership race on a technicality while Yuri Fulmer forms an entire coalition with a far right party, OneBC, is a clear choice. I’ll take them seriously when they can run a clean leadership campaign, have a leader, can identify themselves ideologically and vet candidates. In the meantime I remain focussed on serving my constituents in Penticton Summerland. The economy, private property rights, lack of healthcare and public safety are provincial emergencies and my focus will remain there. Much love to my constituents. #bcpoli

Today a staffer for @Dallas_Brodie entered my constituency office unannounced and began recording my staff and an innocent constituent without their consent. They walked through my office filming and trying to agitate people for a reaction.

Ok @BCConservCaucus and @TrevHal - if you voted for the bill on first reading ONLY because of your strong love of the parliamentary tradition (which apparently didn’t apply three times in the last session) then theoretically you should have no issue making yourself clear in another format. So I’m asking all of you, or someone authorized to speak on on your behalf- do you support the LGBTQ community? Are trans rights human rights? Are you prepared to denounce anyone who says or insinuates that being gay or trans makes you more likely to be a school shooter? I think people want to know. Stop hiding behind procedural technicalities and pick a side. Which side are you on? Very eager to hear. And no BS about “waiting for a new leader”. If you guys can’t answer such a basic question, we are all hooped.

Our hearts are in Tumbler Ridge tonight with the families of those who have lost loved ones. Government will ensure every possible support for community members in the coming days, as we all try to come to terms with this unimaginable tragedy.
