For last 24 hours I’ve seen footage of horrific scenes from Gaza, just absolute human misery. Yet..it’s not there on any news outlet’s home pages, not discussed on our witless political shows. We’re just going to ignore it? Is that the plan?

@simon_schama described allegations of genocide in Gaza as a “blood libel” and a “profound lie”. And STILL not a single Palestinian voice on your panel. THE @BBC's COMPLICITY IS SO FUCKING OBVIOUS! We talk about how you can't present genocide as a debate with two equally legitimate sides. But the BBC isn’t even doing that. Palestinians aren't even given a voice. Those who dare speak up for them are smeared as antisemites, while those who defend Israels war crimes are handed a national platform. What the actual FUCK has happened to our media? This is beyond a failure of journalism. It's a failure of humanity. #GazaGenocide #FreePalestine

Has anyone noticed her face in the mirror? She looks full on deranged
I’m going to chime in on the conversation about ugliness and degeneracy in art. The relentless nihilism and puerile fascinations in contemporary art keep sending the same message: give up, there’s no beauty, nothing to live for. I find it deeply depressing. We seem to be elevating artists who lack the talent to achieve transcendence. Unable to produce or understand it, their work becomes a resentful rejection: “If I can’t have it, then nobody can.” I’m tired of these mediocre deviants sucking up all the oxygen in our culture. It’s everywhere and utterly mundane. It lacks the excitement of breaking taboos because it doesn’t; it plays to permissible, even approved ideas. None of it is new, and it certainly isn’t dangerous anymore. It pays to be unoriginal and unable to access the talent that comes with ability to focus, critical thinking and sensitivity to beauty. I know this because I lived with Simon Henwood, an artist who doggedly pursued transcendence. Early success with his giant gouache-on-paper pictures of teenagers wasn’t enough, so he taught himself to paint with oils. The painstaking process of building layer upon layer of translucent colour creates pictures of multi-dimensional space and form that simply can’t be reproduced in print, much less with AI. You need to stand in front of the painting; you may not understand why it affects you, but it will. He found such work difficult to push into the art scene because he didn’t have a story, a why, or a cynical bone in his body. He ended up as creative director for Kanye West, then Rihanna and Alicia Keys. He should have been at home in the attic working on his paintings, but he was thrown into a world of bullshit he simply could not handle, and the stress killed him. He was an oddball, and his favourite thing as a kid was his Golliwogs. He collected all the Robertson’s Jam gollies and had a cuddly toy which was his favourite. I still have these objects. I also have a giant and very affectionate portrait of a golly that I have to hang in a shady upstairs landing, lest it be seen by visitors. A glimpse of this oil painting on one of my Instagram reels is regularly brought up as evidence of my “fascist leanings” or whatever. Even if I didn’t like the painting (I do), what am I supposed to do with it? Destroy it? The man is dead and won’t be painting anymore. Of course a naked white woman on her knees with bruises, blood and excrement around her arse is institutionally approved and breaks no boundaries, but Simon’s happy golly with its hand hovering over its crotch is totally taboo. Taboo still exists. It’s taboo to be Christian, to be conservative; contemporary art won’t touch a great many things for fear of cancellation. So no, I don’t buy that this is brave or interesting. I know exactly what’s unacceptable in the arts. I’ve paid my own price for believing in biological reality, another huge taboo. I’m now very much an outsider myself. I think it’s perfectly descriptive to call these people regime artists, and the regime wants degeneracy and hopelessness. Why is another question entirely, but I doubt it has to do with art.

The elite media absolutely never talks about how the Mexican left utterly crushed the corrupt narco-establishment in Mexico and instituted a wildly popular democratic socialist government that’s still going strong after eight years because they wouldn’t want to give you any ideas
🚨: Mexico just went universal, 120 Million citizens now get fre healthcare- No premiums, no copays, no requirements.

Anyone remember when Just Stop Oil activists were sentenced to 5 years jail in the UK for having a zoom call about blocking a motorway?
Take a moment today to think about the courage of Joshua Wong. A young activist who’s only crime is defending the liberty of others in Hong Kong. Today for his courage he’s been punished with 10 years in prison by the Chinese Communist Party. He could have run. He could have lived in exile. He chose courage.

Unfortunately this is exactly the kind of values Columbia and their ilk stand for. Training the next generation of cia assets to destroy countries in the global south
Replying to @Columbia
@Columbia your student Constanza Peña is the daughter of Paraguay’s president who has just been accused of stealing millions of dollars from taxpayers and here she is making fun of the poor. Is this the kind of values your university stands for? SHAME

He's not wrong most European food is overhyped, just because they're white they're deemed the best when none of those European soups compare to a bowl of pho, laksa, or ramen
Riz Ahmed says French cuisine is overhyped because cooking a steak doesn't compare to the complexity of South Asian food “I do feel that French cuisine is, I guess, a little bit overhyped” “It's relatively simpler things that are done executing very well and with care” “Coming from a background where it's about curries slow cooked, intense layering of a dish like nihari, the amount of spices and things going into it, it's just incredible. The flavor profile and the range of things, the time it takes...” “Whereas, not being funny, but a steak, it's a steak” “Like you get the thing, you put it on and the trick is like, oh, 28 seconds or 33, and it's like boom”

If you’re wondering how on Earth the BBC ended up employing so many rapists & sexual offenders may I remind you that they never took down the Eric Gill statue above their London HQ when it became known that he raped his daughters & the family dog. They spent £500K restoring it.

Australia was founded by Brits, for Brits. It succeeded because of Brits. It has the British flag in the corner of its current flag. It absolutely is our god given right to travel there.
