On June 21 2009, Self-Government replaced Home Rule. Some main achievements were: the recognition of Kalaallit (Greenlanders) as a people w right to self-determination under intl law, transfer of addt'l areas of responsibility, and a provision for Greenland to become independent.
Greenland transitioned from colony to a Danish constituency in 1953. On May 1 1979, we attained Home Rule, electing our own parliament and govt - Today we celebrate the 40 year anniversary of @Naalakkersuisut (Govt of Greenland) and Inatsisartut (Parliament)! Pilluaritsi tamassi!
