If you only listen to pundits on national news, you'd believe the Rio Grande River was simply the backdrop of the fiercely argued immigration debate.
For Texans, it is so much more than that.
It's the lifeblood for agriculture. It's the source of drinking water for rapidly growing cities. It's the livelihood for tour guides. It is a delicate ecosystem for wildlife all along its length.
@jherrerx explored its full length from the headwaters in Colorado all the way to its mouth near Boca Chica in this wonderful special for @TexasMonthly.

The bigger story is that the richest man in the world helped the Paxton campaign spread a completely made up story about his opponent and no one will face any consequences
Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico's viral hospital rumor has been debunked by time-stamped security footage reviewed by The New York Times — but the bigger story may be why his campaign sat on the evidence while the conspiracy theory exploded across social media for days.
Talarico disappeared from the campaign trail for nine days in early October, fueling rampant speculation that he had secretly traveled to an Ohio behavioral health center. His campaign maintained he was home with the flu, and security camera images from his Austin home now back that up. But GOP strategists and journalists are torching the campaign's response as "mind-numbing malpractice" for not releasing the footage sooner.
With Election Day just weeks away in one of the biggest Senate races in the country, the question has shifted from where Talarico was to why his team let the narrative spiral unchecked when they had the receipts the entire time.

Worst president in history and it ain't even close. We're out here paying exorbitant prices for gas, groceries, and every day expenses and he's worried about renaming things.

.@billburr says AI should replace CEOs, not their hard working employees:
“Why don’t they make an AI CEO? They’re making way more [than] all the workers. You’re going to save way more money replacing one guy. Why don’t you do that? Because it’s not for us. It’s for them.”

16 years ago my Dad was on the Colbert Report.
A stock photo I’d taken of him — a Tejano, 3rd-generation son of migrant workers — was used in a sarcastic bit about gatekeeping what it means to be a “real American.” As Colbert says “Mexicans” my Dad’s photo popped up.
We’ve always laughed wondering what the producers searched on Getty Images to stumble upon my Dad.
Unfortunately the joke is still relevant today.
