“The outsize reaction to Stevens’s maneuver is an expression of Democratic insecurity. Maybe El-Sayed will pull it out in the end. But no one pounds the table like this over one defection, even one as prominent as this. Democrats know that there are many more Haley Stevenses out there. How many is the question voters will answer on Tuesday night.” - @NoahCRothman I think this is exactly right. And for me, it calls to mind the rabid reactions endured by many Republicans at the time—myself included—when we decided we couldn’t vote for Trump in 2016. The “purge the non-believers” mentality is a sign of a deeply unhealthy, and yes, authoritarian-minded coalition. Democrats would do well to check themselves in this moment, but they seem institutionally inclined toward conformity at all costs rather than introspection as to why defections are occurring. This approach is better suited to cults, not small-d democratic institutions whose remit should be to persuade and ultimately embrace erstwhile skeptics. We need both of our major political parties to do better.
Too seldom are words put to the page with this much clarity in an age of endless fury, but little truth or substance. Important read from @NoahCRothman: "With nigh Stalinist alacrity, Michigan Democrats swiftly blocked Stevens’s access to state voter bases and purged her likeness from its website." nationalreview.com/2026/11/h…

I don’t know how to make a progressive cultist like you pause and understand how Islamism works. I can’t make you sit down and read how the Muslim brotherhood came about or how it operates with loose corruptive family ties. I can’t make you understand what Hezbolla has done in Lebanon. I can’t go to your house and show you pictures of what the Houthis have done in Yemen to the legitimate government, causing a famine. AES is doing a playbook history has shown over and over and over and over. They claim progressive causes with a populist appeal, and then turn it towards Muslim theocracy. The populist commitment is always a lie. Ultimately trans people are just a marketing tool for Abdul El Sayed. Most Muslims elected in the United States are not aligned with jiihadists and theocracy like he is. It’s my experience, particularly with the ones from Iran that they are the biggest critics of Islamism.

Let’s face it: this campaign in Michigan is turning into a moral disaster. Too much anti-Muslim hate from the GOP. Too much anti-Jewish hate on the progressive side. Too little leadership trying to bring everyone together. After this election, I pray for healing in that state. And America: we gotta do better.

Thank you @vanjomes68 for speaking up and out!!!
Something is going horribly wrong in the Senate race in Michigan. And I am going to keep calling it out. On the one hand, the Republicans are conducting a campaign of blatant anti-Muslim fear mongering. Mike Rogers, Donald Trump and the rest of the GOP need to knock it off. Mike needs to personally and repeatedly denounce hate against Muslims. But now, at the same time, we have TWO ads from the Democratic side that ALSO traffic in hate and intolerance — causing alarm for some Black and Jewish voters. Seriously— WTF ???? The first ad was from Rebellion PAC (NOT the official Abdul El-Sayyed campaign). It suggested that Americans can’t buy groceries because the USA sends so much money to Israel. That is a lie. The USA spends less than 00.1 percent of our federal budget on support for Israel. But this ad pretends bananas cost too much because the Jewish state is bleeding us dry. TOTALLY nuts. And yet — this kind of thinking has always put Jewish lives at risk. Blaming Jews for everyone’s economic problems has a long, bloody history. Abdul did try to separate himself from the ad. He accurately noted that his campaign didn’t produce it. But the problem is: if you listen, Abdul actually NEVER DENOUNCED the CONTENT of the ad. He never said, “This ad is wrong.” He just said, “Hey, it wasn’t me.” 😬😬😬 That ad — and Abdul’s refusal to forthrightly denounce it — is scaring some Jewish Democrats in Michigan, who now are more reluctant to vote for him. In other words, that one ad alone is jeopardizing our party’s shot at taking back the U.S. Senate. BUT IT GETS WORSE! Then Abdul’s formal, official campaign put out its OWN ad — which features none other than the vile and contemptible Tucker Carlson (!!!). As you know, Tucker Carlson is a rabid, anti-Black bigot who also traffics in anti-Jewish stereotypes. He is anathema to most Black people and most Jews. No Democrat should ever celebrate the words of a white nationalist who actively undermines the safety of Black people and Jewish people. Moreover, given the importance of Black and Jewish Democrats to our victory in Michigan, the decision to include Tucker Carlson in any Democratic ad there is truly baffling. Why am I speaking out about this now? Because I want Democrats to build a winning coalition — now and into the future. Chasing off any Black or Jewish voters is a path to defeat — both in the short term and the long term. As proud Democrats, it can feel uncomfortable or risky to speak against intolerance in our own party, especially just days before a national election. It would be easier for us to let this stuff slide, shut up and close ranks. But that would make us hypocrites. For 10 years, we Democrats have watched with dismay and disgust as Republicans (who know better) have refused to challenge ANY bad ideas or bad actions in their own ranks. As a result, their party curdled into a cult — one that is now wrecking the country AND falling apart. As Democrats, we should not make the same mistake. Anti-Muslim hate is wrong. Period. Anti-Jewish hate is wrong. Period. Tucker Carlson’s white nationalism is wrong. Period. All candidates in Michigan need to say that clearly— and then pull down/denounce any ads that normalize hate or elevate hate mongers.

Hey @RichardAAttard, I love that picture. It was taken a few months after my wife ended her chemotherapy treatments during her battle with cancer. Hey hair was starting to come back, and I think she looks gorgeous here. And yes, I proudly stand with the LGBTQ+ community. Thanks

Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ): *Laughs* “There’s no way I’m ever coming out for El-Sayed, right now… This is a guy who has made it VERY CLEAR his views towards… Jewish Americans.”

I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people. Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. That’s less than one tenth of a percent! But there is an ad running that tells voters they can’t afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world – but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest. You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful. Blaming Jews for people’s problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway. This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

FACT: The annual funding Israel receives from the US amounts to less than one-tenth of 1% of the federal budget. Less than 1/10th of 1%. FACT: That annual funding would cover only a few hours of federal health care spending. A few hours. Yet politicians who specialize in scapegoating would have you believe that Israel is responsible for America’s affordability crisis. Like every form of scapegoating before it, it is a dangerous lie.

Yesterday, our PAXIS.app post reached over 8 million views across social media, with nearly 500,000 likes and more than 100,000 shares. That response drove nearly 50 times our usual traffic and overwhelmed our server. We’ve now upgraded our servers. But we still need your help to keep PAXIS free for immigrants and citizens targeted by Trump’s ICE thugs. This is one of the easiest ways to make a difference. Donate and share: GoFundMe.com/PAXIS

I'm a Michigan voter, a Jew, and a lifelong Democrat who will not be voting for Abdul El-Sayed. He supports the most repressive, fascist, genocidal regimes in the Middle East because they oppose Israel, which contains half the world's Jews. Telling me to vote for him "for the greater good" would be akin to telling a Black voter to support a member of the Klan. El-Sayed may speak the language of progressives, but he has only one agenda, and it isn't free stuff for everybody ... or whatever. History lesson: The Islamist/socialist partnership in the Iranian Revolution ended with the socialists executed along with the Jews.

Jewish communities though-out the centuries, in the Middle East & Europe, experienced pogroms like this. Do you know your history? Do you know what happens to countries after they force the Jewish community out? They die!
