Reform 2. Stop taking kids' personal property! Some kids in foster care (577 in 2023) receive social security. The state takes the money. It should stay with the kids, put it in an account until they turn 18 so they have an opportunity to succeed.

Reform 1. Let kids and birth parents reunify if the only thing stopping it is debt. That's not right. The parents have done everything to earn back their parental rights. Wisconsin is one of 12 states that still keeps kids from their birth parents over debt to the government.

🚨 REVIEW THE FACTS:
Right now in Wisconsin:
- Parents can be denied reunification with their kids due to debt
- The state can seize foster kids' Social Security benefits
Yes, that’s really happening.

Since 2010, state lawmakers have sent over $7.3 billion to MPS, for one of the worst performing urban districts in the country. We must demand better. It's time to break up MPS and create new districts that are closer to the families they serve.
