Hopefully, this is the long-awaited final chapter in the David trilogy with Michael Fassbender. Both Prometheus and Covenant are excellent Alien films, and David is a great character. I really want to see what happens next with Fassbender’s David. I love rewatching those flicks.
A new ‘ALIEN’ movie is in the works. • It will be connected to ‘Prometheus’ and ‘Covenant’ • Aaron Guzikowski (‘Prisoners’, ‘Raised by Wolves’) is writing the script (Source: hollywoodreporter.com/movies…)

Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes. 🦇

All the best to Reeves and his family. My thoughts are with them. 🙏🏾
Steven Soderbergh is coming on to help finish principal photography the final weeks of DC Studios’ and Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman Part II.’ The news comes after production was paused on the film so that Reeves could attend to a family matter. More details here: deadline.com/2026/10/steven-…

Any anonymous exec saying ARTIFICIAL was “unreleasable” was lying through their fake fucking teeth and carrying water for their sleazebag A.I. overlords.
Luca Guadagnino’s “Artificial,” a movie about the evils of AI and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, is earning rave reviews, raising questions about Amazon’s decision to drop the movie and whether its own AI investments played a role. One creative team member on an Amazon MGM series tells Variety that AI training is a requirement on the lot these days. The source describes a “mandatory and perfunctory meeting” with the company’s AI team, billed as standard workplace education. The AI group spent an hour pitching the creatives on a suite of products it referred to as “tools.” Meanwhile, Nicolas Cage revealed that he refused to sign a document permitting Amazon to use AI in and around his likeness on his now-canceled series “Spider-Noir”: “I am not an AI-friendly actor. I’m not a member of their club,” he said. As one film executive at a rival studio put it: “A reaction this strong just shows you, every studio pretending the film wasn’t releasable is just conflicted out by their own investments in AI.” variety.com/2026/film/news/a…

Hollywood productions need to do better by disabled actors. RJ Mitte’s death has been weighing on me. I checked his iMDB a lot since Breaking Bad. He was a genuinely talented actor. There’s no reason he shouldn’t have been central in a horror movie, Marvel series, or rom-com etc.

Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s DIGGER is a bold and challenging “satire about satires” that also manages to say something about the role of art in shaping collective memory. It is sometimes messy, but I think it may be Iñárritu’s best film since Birdman. REVIEW: imjeffreyrex.com/2026/10/04/…

Guillermo del Toro: “Be very angry about how the world is being fucked, how your craft is being pulled away from you, how people are trying to move you away from the arts and tell you they’re not important. Be angry that things are being controlled by socially barely functional people that have a lot of money. Be angry about something. Be enraged about something” (Video: anakinspadawan / TikTok)

This is a massive loss. Truly hope they set up shop somewhere else soon and are able to continue their incredible cinematic support.

The sentence “It was the final film released by Warner Bros…” just made me feel sick. Not because it’s Digger (haven’t seen it yet), but because it’s the end of a such an important part of Hollywood and its history.

Ralph Fiennes won't be in the best supporting actor conversation this year but he absolutely should!
Everyone has forgotten about it, but 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is still one of my favorite films of the year.

Nikias Chryssos’ BLOODY TENNIS is a mixed bag. Though held back by the inevitability of the plot developments, it is atmospheric and competently made. It’s a small part, but I enjoyed seeing Zlatko Buric in this. REVIEW: imjeffreyrex.com/2026/09/23/… #FantasticFest @fantasticfest

Alex Schulman’s ADULT SUPERVISION is a well-cast, thought-provoking, and sometimes disturbing film about parenthood and the challenges of adolescent toxicity. Fares Fares and Gustaf Skarsgård are great in it. REVIEW: imjeffreyrex.com/2026/09/21/… #fantasticfest @fantasticfest

Markus Lehmusruusu’s THE SQUIRREL is an effective Finnish sci-fi comedy. The futuristic vision is particularly well-realized with remarkable set-designs and scenes expressing modern solitude. REVIEW: imjeffreyrex.com/2026/09/20/… #FantasticFest @FantasticFest

For now, this does just sound like the 1951 Greenland agreement all over again. But with the addition that “US adversaries” will be explicitly prohibited from building bases and making certain sensitive investments. Current sovereignty status preserved for Greenland & Denmark.
Trump: "We will immediately begin the process of developing a large Military presence in the appropriate part of Greenland, of which there are many"

this might just be my late-millennial showing but there was a stretch from halfway through season one to about midway through season three where this show operated on a level I don’t think any sitcom has ever matched
