Elected by 20% of the people, if we’re going to be exact
"I am directly elected by the people to represent the people to legislate for the people" "There doesn't need to be a picket" Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said he believes the Dáil should sit next week ahead of a planned public sector strike. It comes as some opposition parties are said to be considering boycotting the sitting if they had to cross the picket. #VMNews

The Secretary of State has said in interviews today that his legal power to intervene in Drumcree requires the Chief Constable to request intervention. That is not what the Public Processions Act (1998) appears to say. See s. 11(5). legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/199…

Replies filled with people apparently more Catholic than the Pope
Sunday, 27 September, marks the World Day of Migrants and Refugees. My thoughts go out to migrants and refugees, especially minors compelled to leave their homeland. Children and teenagers are the most vulnerable. They often endure unspeakable suffering, violence, torture, exploitation, and traumatic conditions. It is not uncommon for them to lose their lives along migration routes. I appeal to everyone’s sense of responsibility: may we all feel a sense of involvement in the lives of these young people, who must always be protected and supported.

For the first time in 75 years, the Sam Mcguire Cup comes home to Mayo, Ireland. I said it three years ago when I was in Ballina: Mayo for Sam! And I meant it. I said it because I know what it means not just the county of Mayo but to my own family’s story. Today, the dream becomes reality. Congratulations to my friends in Mayo. You earned this victory. Enjoy every minute. Sam is coming home ☘️

British media's coverage of the riots in Belfast... Hadn't been aware that Jeremy Kyle was a presenter on something called 'Talk TV'. In his coverage, he referred to 'Mitchell O'Neill', 'Jim McAllister' and claimed that "the Protestants" and "the Catholics" have "joined forces"

Sir Alex Ferguson was taken to hospital after falling unwell at Old Trafford shortly before Manchester United's match against Liverpool. Sources stressed it was a precautionary move and not an emergency situation as Ferguson was taken from the stadium in an ambulance. Club officials are optimistic Ferguson will soon be fit enough to return home.

Remember when #MUFC sacked Van Gaal for finishing 5th, winning the FA Cup, and bringing through loads of young players? #WOLMUN

🌍 Though they had to withdraw from hosting EURO 2028 due to 🏟️ stadium issues, ☘️ Northern Ireland will have a status of a special partner to the tournament. ✅ Qualifying draw will take place in ☘️ Belfast (6 Dec 2026) ✅ ☘️ N. Ireland will get a reserved position in the final tournament draw (D1) with pre-determined venues (if they qualify directly) ...but... ❌ ☘️ N. At #PMQs @RobinSwann_MP asks the UK PM if he stands by remarks made by NIO Minister Fleur Anderson in her interview with @agendani that a border poll "would be based on opinion polls" and asks him if he is a unionist.

You can read my original interview with @PutneyFleur on the @agendani website
A @NIOgov minister has indicated that opinion polls will determine if and when a border referendum is called. 🗳️ @PutneyFleur’s comments are the first indication of the criteria that could trigger a vote on the constitutional arrangements. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/…
