🚨Sneaked out by OFGEM this morning, a warning for the first time EVER they cannot guarantee that demand will be met on a peak day in winter. Let’s be clear what that means. They cannot guarantee that homes will be warm, lights come on or industry function on a peak day this winter. And why? Because of an accelerated decline in domestic gas supply from the North Sea. So what is the solution? For British bill payers to pay more, to IMPORT more from Europe (specifically Belgium) to keep the lights on in Britain. Britain. A country with vast supplies of gas, untapped, deliberately due to Labour policy now going cap in hand to Europe and paying vast sums to import foreign gas. It is utterly outrageous. You couldn’t make it up. ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/f…

FINALLY: Jackdaw has been given the green light! A victory for Scotland’s oil and gas workers after years of uncertainty and relentless Scottish Conservative pressure. Now Labour must stop dithering and approve Rosebank as well to protect jobs and our energy security.

I spoke with several skippers prior to the debate to hear their concerns about Marine Scotland introducing a one net rule by the end of the year. I am pleased Jim Fairlie MSP, Minister for Agriculture, Marine and the Islands, has agreed to meet with me to discuss this issue.

My amendment was voted through yesterday with near full support in the chamber. I spoke about supporting our fishing industry, introducing an amendment calling for Parliament to back the principle of compensation for fishermen who suffer financial loss due to new offshore wind.

Pain at the pumps - and worse to come. A jump in fuel duty will make EVERYTHING more expensive as hauliers and supermarkets get hit. And for an area like D&G - where a car is a lifeline, not a luxury - it’s a crisis. Sign our petition to axe the tax. what-labour-said.webflow.io/…

Great to see preventing homelessness high on the agenda in the Scottish Parliament today! 👏 Thanks to @paulmclennansnp and @jamesadamsmsp for both asking questions about last week's homelessness statistics, which saw homelessness hit record levels in Scotland.

My contribution to the Scottish Government Debate: Scotland’s Right to Decide 👇 Homelessness, drug deaths, education. Just a few of the topics we could have debated but yet again we waste time on Independence. Let’s get back to basics and fix the issues that matter to people.

Two stories this morning that should shame the Scottish Nationalist Party “Government”. 1- Drugs deaths rise again as Scotland remains the worst in Europe. 2- Scotland has the highest death rate for children of any nation in the UK. And what do the nationalists choose to spend hours debating in Holyrood yesterday? Another unwanted, unnecessary referendum on ripping our United Kingdom apart. They are single issue obsessives, not a Government. Scotland is suffering but they don’t care as long as they get to talk about the only thing they care about- Separation.

1. Closing Scotland's attainment gap. 2. Creating and protecting skilled jobs. 3. Fixing rural transport and connectivity. 4. Tackling the cost of living. 5. Improving the NHS and public services. Five things Holyrood could have debated today instead of Independence.

I agree with Jake. When our farmers are already under pressure. The threat of this idiotic policy potentially being implemented will do nothing to eleviate the challenges they face. Our rural communities and food security aren’t pawns to be sacrificed at the alter of Net Zero.
During the recent Climate Action Committee meeting, Gillian Martin, MSP emphasized the importance of the UK's Vehicle Emissions Trading Scheme in meeting UK emissions targets. Reducing livestock numbers is not a viable alternative for achieving these targets. @SPClimateAction

BREAKING - Andy Burnham's Credibility It is becoming clear that Labour are about to, yet again, delay, the decision on Jackdaw. Waiting until after the Holburn and St Pancras By Election. If true, Andy Burnham is guilty of a gross dereliction of duty and is putting the Labour Party's interest over the national interest. There must be no more delay, get Britain drilling.

Child poverty won’t be solved by simply pouring more money into welfare. We need to grow Scotland’s economy, make work pay and give families the childcare, education and secure housing they need to thrive.

There’s not a person in the Highland League who won’t feel the impact of Charlie’s passing. A great man and @FraserburghFC stalwart who gave a lifetime of service to the club and Scottish football. A friend to many who will be sare missed. My thoughts are with Charlie’s family.

Until last week, men over 50 were entitled to a free PSA prostate cancer check. But the government has now decided to withdraw that right. I cannot for the life of me work out what their reasoning might be.

Today is the #GloriousTwelfth, start of the grouse shooting season and a celebration of the hard work of gamekeepers and estate workers. I support sustainable grouse moor management as it delivers many benefits for our rural economy, natural capital, tourism and the environment.
