Some personal news: I am now flying solo on "Acadiana's Morning News" on NewsTalk 96.5 KPEL in Lafayette. If you live here, that means you'll get more of me on the radio BUT there's a catch: I'm shifting to very little commentary in the mornings. Part of my goal when I took over KPEL in 2024 was to use it as a vehicle to delivery more news and information and less outrage-driven commentary. It's a conservative news/talk station, so there will always be conservative commentary, but I want people to have the information first. So, the morning show will be almost all interviews, focusing on being your point of access to City Hall, the State Capitol, and Capitol Hill. I'll be reaching out to politicians, newsmakers, and reporters to bring as much information to y'all as possible. Now, the downside here is that I am a one-man crew running this ship, but I promise the ship is pretty sturdy. You can expect some cool interviews and access starting in August, if not a little before.

If the GOP loses the House and Johnson isn’t the minority leader OR he leaves Congress entirely, the same question pops up here that popped up when McCarthy was ousted: Can anyone fundraise like this guy? Johnson proved all the doubters wrong tenfold. Does the House GOP have another Mike Johnson waiting in the wings? Is there another fundraising powerhouse?
There are a lot of people running around town saying they know what Johnson will do one way or another. A lot of those people are in powerful positions in the Capitol or making a lot of money on K St bc of Johnson. I don't think anyone can say confidently that they know what Johnson will do. If they defy expectations and keep the majority, he will probably be speaker. If they lose by just a little, it will be very hard, but not impossible. If they get wiped out, he's probably done. There are some truisms about leadership races: speed kills, and organization is a huge advantage. If Election Day goes badly but not disastrously, Johnson can make the case that his seemingly endless travel and ability to raise piles of money have earned him two years leading House Republicans in the minority. Jumping quickly into the race and having a speaker’s office filled with aides can help him quickly line up support is key.

Netflix's new documentary, THE TALE OF NORM MACDONALD, is kind of amazing, both in terms of its content (lots of Norm!) and its form (it recreates going down a video rabbit hole amazingly well). I talked about it with Norm chronicler @geoffedgers: thebulwark.com/p/the-tao-of-…

To me there’s one very obvious reason Elizabeth Holmes doesn’t seem to understand what she did was wrong in You Can See Everything that I haven’t seen anyone mention and it’s not because “her mind works differently” it’s because a lawyer told her never to admit guilt on camera after a court orders you to pay $452 million in restitution if you were ever hoping to get it reduced.

Photo : Radio France.

Further reminder that Harrison Ford just plays himself in movies.
I once heard Mark Hamill talk about STAR WARS at a panel, and he said during A New Hope they shot the film out of order, so he was extremely particular about the continuity of the movie. While filming, he realized in the previous scene they shot much earlier they were just in the wet garbage compactor, but now, moments later, his hair would be dry. So he leaned over to Harrison Ford, worried about how his hair should actually be wet, stating mistakes like that would take people completely out of the movie. Harrison Ford turned to him and dryly said, "Look, kid, if they're watching this movie and looking at your hair we're all in big trouble."

Bad for Republicans, sure, but young voters are historically the most unreliable when it comes to turnout.
🚨Democrats lead Republicans 63%–26% among likely voters ages 18–29 in our Harvard Youth Poll. 63% of #GenZ say their midterm vote is opposition to Trump and his policies. Young voters are poised to deliver a sharp rebuke. Here’s what’s driving it. 🧵

We CANNOT even afford hobbies. We CANNOT afford to go out with friends. We CANNOT afford to exist anywhere outside our homes. They then call it a mental health crisis. It's not. It's an affordability crisis.

I have no idea if Lindsey Graham hired gay prostitutes, but I do know it's incredibly lame to release these allegations only after he can no longer defend himself. Cowardly. What is even the point of this?

NEW: Multiple federal sources confirm to @FoxNews that the suspect arrested for using a sledgehammer to behead a WW2 Iwo Jima monument in Quantico, VA on Tuesday is a Mexican illegal alien & former DACA recipient whose legal status expired this year. Miguel Alonso Maldonado Soriano has now been charged with felony destruction of property and trespass with intent to damage property. Per federal sources, Soriano illegally crossed into the U.S. in December 1999. He was granted DACA by the Obama administration in 2014 and had it extended for years, most recently by the Biden admin in 2024, but he lost his DACA status in August of this year when it wasn’t renewed by the Trump administration.

Today, we lost my grandfather. He was the last of my grandparents still living, and the man who taught me to hunt, fish, and golf, and the man who taught me a love for hybrid tea roses. He also got me Thomas Sowell's "Basic Economics" for Christmas one year because, I think, he suspected at the time that I wasn't conservative. That was before the radio career, though. I believe he figured it out. He was a longtime member of the Natchitoches business community and for a time was active in the local political community. He was an early leader in the movement to help Natchitoches Parish escape from the Police Jury form of government (a process I helped see through years after he started). I don't believe he got the credit he deserved for being one of the early voices for that movement. He was a stubborn, stern man when I was growing up. I was a terrible student when he taught me the hunting and the fishing and the golfing. But in his later years, I saw him as a man whose sternness was built on a deep love for those he held dear and a desire to keep them on the right path. Again, that's probably why he gave me a Thomas Sowell book for Christmas that one year. I still have it. I can now say without fear of him finding out that I never made it very far into that book. But I did try, and I think that counts. I am Joe Cunningham, III. He was Joe Cunningham, Sr., and a truly great man. As these things go, it takes far too long to really understand how great he was, but when you realize it, you realize the giant-sized hole he leaves behind.
