I held a public town hall in Oakley this afternoon.
People gave up part of their weekend to come, and they brought their questions with them.
603 days ago, Roger Marshall held a town hall in Oakley. He called the crowd one of the rudest audiences he’d ever had, ended the event early, and walked out. He hasn't held one since.
Later he said town halls like this had become “non-productive” and “dangerous.” I don’t believe that.
I looked out at that room today and saw good, hardworking people concerned about important issues. Farmers worried about the cost of diesel and fertilizer. Parents trying to figure out how they’ll pay for health care. Neighbors looking out for families who are struggling to put food on the table.
We didn’t agree on everything, but we had an honest conversation about how I’ll fight for them in Washington. That’s what this job is, and Kansans deserve a senator who stays and listens.

You can't build a stronger Kansas without the people who build Kansas.
I appreciated the opportunity to visit with the Associated General Contractors of Kansas about the challenges facing our construction industry and what it takes to keep projects moving.
Whether it's workforce shortages, rising costs, or unnecessary government red tape, we need to make it easier for the people building our state to get the job done.
Kansas has enormous potential, and I'll work to ensure our infrastructure and workforce are ready for what's next.

On this day in 1962, at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis, U.S. Ambassador Adlai Stevenson cornered the Soviet ambassador, Valerian Zorin, in front of the entire U.N. Security Council.
"Do you, Ambassador Zorin, deny that the U.S.S.R. has placed and is placing medium and intermediate range missiles and sites in Cuba? Yes or no? Don't wait for the translation." When Zorin dodged, saying he was not in an American courtroom, Stevenson shot back, "I am prepared to wait for my answer until hell freezes over," then set up easels with aerial photos of the missile sites.
For me, the lesson is simple…bring the receipts. Strength backed by evidence won that room, and three days later Khrushchev agreed to pull the missiles.
