Amazing how far the pendulum has swung from ca. 2015 when many thought economic growth might have been a 200 year blip that was coming to an end. (Summers writing about secular stagnation, Robert Gordon's book about the rise and fall of American growth, etc.)
Thanks to @willmacaskill, @SamuelAlbanie, @tomcohen for taking the other side of this bet at 4:1 odds and to @andrewho03 for joining on my side. Here are the final terms we agreed on benjaminmoll.com/growth_bet/ More (within) ~7 years from now 😃

***Post-Doc Opportunity*** Join me, Mikael Carlsson, Oskar Nordström Skans and Karl Walentin in studying heterogeneity in consumption-savings behavior using high-quality Swedish admin data. The position is 3 years, with little to no teaching, ample time for your own research, and we provide mentorship and support in all dimensions. The position is designed so to be a springboard for a research career (our outgoing Post-Doc Marco D'Amico on the program is now joining Reserve Bank of Australia as a tenured research economist). Relevant both for macroeconomists with data skills and for applied economists with a macro interest. Please apply, and please help me spread this widely! Link in next tweet.

A job ladder model with incomplete markets links wealth to job search over the life cycle. It provides a new microfoundation for all three inputs in F(K, AL) and offers novel insights into how redistributive policies affect aggregate output and welfare. econometricsociety.org/publi…

Are car spending choices informative about the GR’s sources? We answer this question within a rich lifecycle model. Large shocks to wealth and perceived future income explain average declines in consumption and car spending and differences across cohorts econometricsociety.org/publi…

Innovators solve problems; and it is easier to solve problems that you now well. We may thus expect young inventors to create products for young people, or sailors to build the best possible sailing ropes..and so on. Example 👇: apps founded by females are used more by females

Connect today and check our paper with @AxelleFK and @RichRHC. We’ll tell you how college enrollment and wealth affects the welfare gains of trade openness. 👇👇👇👇👇
👇 exposure of trade from China leads to an increase in college enrollment. However, this increase is driven only by the 18-25 year olds living in the richest households, thus fostering inequality. Why? Join us today at the VMACS-Junior with @gmnavarro to find out!
