🚨New in BMC Geriatrics: Our qualitative study with 20 older adults in Bangkok shows that concern about falling is not only about physical risk. Perceived control, resilience, social context, and how people make sense of ageing shape activity and prevention. Fall care must be person-centred. 🚶

The Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ)-9, PHQ-8, and PHQ-2 are the most commonly used mental health outcome measures in clinical practice.
New BMJ Research assesses the minimal important difference of the PHQ-9, PHQ-8, or PHQ-2

🚨We’ve discovered that one of our research papers was almost completely copied and published under other authors’ names. The article claims to be a study from Prince of Songkla University, uses the same ethics approval number as ours, and even thanks our statistician in the acknowledgements. It lists a 2024 publication date but cites 2025 papers, raising serious concerns about the reliability of the dates and the credibility of the journal. 🧐 We’ve contacted the journal that published our genuine article and received initial guidance, but would welcome any advice from others with experience of similar misconduct. 🙏

Systematic review asks: What works?
Scoping review asks: What exists?
Many researchers confuse the two!

----------------------------------------
Here's when a scoping review makes sense:
— You're exploring an emerging area
— You want to identify what research methods people are using
— You need to clarify how a concept is being defined
— You want to spot where the research gaps are
Stick with systematic reviews when:
— You have a focused question
— You need to inform policy or practice decisions
— You want to compare interventions
— Critical appraisal matters for your question
