Less people know who Engling is than Ballard and that will make a difference. Ballard held city wide office in the state’s capitol. That counts for something. Bayh has a family name. Engling has nothing but an “R” next to his name.

I went looking for proof Western Michigan got robbed.
Unfortunately, I’m now somewhat confident Michigan deserved the extra play 😭
Used Astra to sync two camera angles, check the visible stadium-clock ticks, and examine the first touch frame by frame.
Both possible frames when the ball was first touched leave time remaining. Even using the latest possible frame & shifting the sync one frame against Michigan leaves about 0.03 seconds on the clock..

My official hypothetical trade proposal for the Pirates to acquire Mason Miller from the Padres:
PIRATES RECEIVE: Mason Miller
PADRES RECEIVE: Edward Florentino, Kristian Curtis, Wilbur Dotel, Temarr Johnson, Wyatt Sanford
Does this get it done? 5 for 1 deal centered around the Pirates #2 prospect.
Curtis and Dotel check the boxes as far as Major League ready SP goes for the Padres. Curtis is a guy with high upside… big strikeout stuff. Same for Dotel.
Johnson, a former 1st round pick, is the Pirates #5 prospect. Sanford, projected to be in MLB by 2028, is the Pirates #6 prospect.
Summary: Pirates #2, #5, #6 + Curtis + Dotel in exchange for Mason Miller… Pirates get desperately needed high-leverage bullpen help with the best closer in baseball. The Padres get a haul in return with Edward Florentino being the headline prospect going back to SD. The Pirates keep Seth Hernandez.
