Hiding behind other people’s or countries’s faults and using justifications that don’t even make sense won’t make the truth disappear. And it won’t save you or your corrupt #government either. Albanians aren’t stupid. Repeating excuses doesn’t make them true. Sooner or later, you’ll have to answer for your actions!

Edi Rama, and a message to Europe: how long are you going to stay silent?
You always talk about democracy, justice and European values, but where are those values when #Albania needs them most?
Rama is not at all above the law, and Albania does not belong to one man. The Albanian people deserve better than silence, excuses and political games.
#Europe, we are watching. Your silence speaks louder than your words. When will you finally stand up for the people of Albania?

As an Albanian Knight of the Flag, I think it's time for PM Rama to take the exit door.

🚨🇦🇱 BREAKING: EDI RAMA THREATENS TO BAN PROTESTING STUDENTS FROM TRANSPORT — BUT ALBANIA HAS NO OPERATING PASSENGER RAILWAY NETWORK!
⚡️During a press conference, Rama says students participating in protests will be denied access to airports, hotels, trains, and other means of transportation.
🇦🇱 THREATENING STUDENTS FOR PROTESTING? AND TRAINS IN ALBANIA? THE IRONY IS UNREAL.
✊️YOU CAN'T SILENCE A GENERATION BY THREATENING ITS FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT!
#Albania #Tirana #StudentProtests
Accountability or damage control? Rama is now getting rid of directors accused of abusing their positions (?!). So, who’s going to bring Rilindja its votes now?
🧐
🇦🇱 ALBANIA: MAY 31. 🇫🇷 FRANCE: SEPTEMBER 17.
109 DAYS APART.
Albania was already protesting months before France’s student protests began. Rama can compare the two, but he cannot rewrite the timeline.
ALBANIA WAS ALREADY IN THE STREETS. #Albania #mestudentet

Over the last week, I have received outreach from Albanian community members who are worried about their families' safety.
I am calling on the Albanian government to deescalate the violent repression of protestors and respect Albanians’ freedom of expression.

Concerned at reports of violence at protests in #Albania, ODIHR urges all sides to remain peaceful. Law enforcement must avoid unlawful or disproportionate use of force against protesters, and any instances of unlawful use of force must be promptly and independently investigated.
🛑 THE VIOLENCE!
Behind those masks are Albania’s future. Students are not mercenaries!
Respect their rights and protect democracy. Stand with the youth. Demand justice NOW!

More armored vehicles, no explanation. Escalating equipment isn't de-escalation. Albanians deserve transparency on what's deployed against them and why.@EUinAlbania @MartaKosEU @CommissionerHR @EP_ForeignAff @OSCE @amnesty @SCHIEDER
👑 Congratulations, @ediramaal ! You’ve won a crown no leader wants: the crown of public hate.
You may hold the power, but you can’t win the people’s respect.

Enough is enough. Brutal violence and repression must end. Rama must go.
To subject defenceless people lying on the ground — children, lawyers, reporters and opposition figures — to kicks and baton blows is brutal abuse. No uniform, no order and no political office can justify such acts. Those who beat and humiliate defenceless people in Albania today abuse state power and act criminally.
Over the past few days, Rama, Balla and their criminal associates have crossed the red line. In Albania, security forces have become perpetrators, and citizens the victims of state repression. Personal responsibility rests with the Rama administration. At its head: a man without moral principle.
The allegations against Rama’s security apparatus form part of a wider pattern. Since 2013, international election observers have documented an absence of a level playing field, widespread misuse of state resources and institutional power, alongside reports of pressure on voters and instances of intimidation. The elections were rigged.
These findings destroy the government’s democratic credibility.
A government that seeks to force its citizens into submission through brutal violence, repression and deliberate intimidation betrays its public duty.
Albania is not Rama’s private property. The police are not his government’s personal guard. Sovereignty belongs to the Albanian people.
An unequivocal demand is addressed to Albania’s security forces:
End the violence against peaceful people. Put down batons and weapons wherever they are directed against the defenceless. Stop beating, intimidating and terrorising children and women. Protect the population. Do not obey unlawful orders. Arrest Rama and Balla, together with their remaining henchmen.
Albanians need not endure immediate unlawful attacks without defending themselves. They may defend themselves and others robustly against such attacks. Self-defence serves to repel violence; it does not justify retaliation.
“An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” — Exodus 21:23–25.
This biblical passage stands here as an admonition against impunity: the suffering of the victims must not be without consequences. The perpetrators, and those who order, enable or knowingly cover up abuse, must face the Albanian population’s exercise of self-defence, as well as an independent investigation and prosecution in accordance with the rule of law.
Rama bears responsibility for his security apparatus. He cannot claim its power while disclaiming responsibility for its conduct.
Europe’s governments must also act:
They must demand protection for those affected, support independent investigations and insist on political accountability. Human dignity must not be sacrificed to diplomatic expediency.
Rama must resign immediately.
Albania needs a peaceful democratic transition and free elections under credible, internationally verifiable conditions.
Enough violence. Enough repression. Citizens are not subjects. Albania’s future belongs to them.
