In @Linda_McMahon’s @usedgov, Vermont and Hawaii have been sacrificed. Sorry, Vermont and Hawaii.
Yesterday, the Energy Department announced major investments towards Tribal communities energy infrastructure that will lower energy costs for Americans! 🇺🇸

I make ice cream now. But when I ran for the U.S. Senate, I said too many children in Baltimore couldn’t see the American dream because they were living a nightmare. Reading @CapehartJ's piece on @MayorBMScott, I thought about those words, and the people who led me to say them. The Rev. Iris Tucker, then pastor of Knox Presbyterian Church, introduced me to kids I would walk with and listen to, some of whom we later lost to the city’s gun violence. Their lives, their hopes, the things they should have had time to become, have stayed with me. So has an early encounter with the then-council candidate, whom Kaliope Parthemos introduced me to at the St. Nicholas Greek Folk Festival. What struck me about him was his sincerity. He cared, he listened, and he had a quiet determination to make things better. Even then, the politics was incidental to the purpose. Baltimore will always be my hometown. My grandmother still lives in the same row house in Greektown. My Papou, whose hospitality helped inspire @YalaGreek Ice Cream, is buried just up the road. I return to those places, and to the people and memories that made me. Jonathan writes that homicides have fallen nearly 60% since the Mayor's violence prevention plan began in 2021. No statistic can restore someone we’ve lost, and the work is far from finished. But that progress means more families spared an unbearable knock at the door, more kids reaching another birthday, more young people with time to discover who they might become. For all our arguments about whether progress is still possible in America, Baltimore deserves more attention, and so do its mayor and the people working every day to make that progress last. When I spoke about the nightmare, I wanted people to recognize what those children were living through. Today, it's Mayor Brandon Scott helping them see a future beyond it. Thank you, Mr. Mayor. jcapehart.substack.com/p/may…

Incredible foresight from LIV, if not the foresight to sense its eventual collapse.
The list of domains LIV owns has to be seen to be believed 💀

Nancy Pelosi, who is regularly hammered for her perceived insider trading, has made 213 total trades since 2014. Trump exceeded that number in a single day, which just happened to precede his own tariffs announcement. My latest on the mind boggling self-enrichment:

The GOP’s lieutenant governor nominee in PA is publicly begging Elon for $2 million to run an AI slop ad.
Replying to @elonmusk
@elonmusk I'm running for Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania with Stacy Garrity to stop Josh Shapiro. Check out our latest ad – just $2 million to get this on TV can help us beat radical Josh Shapiro.

COMMENTARY: Amy Acton's childhood trauma is the subject of a $4 million ad buy from her rival Vivek Ramaswamy in the race for Ohio governor. Perhaps voters didn’t become cynical about politics so much as politicians keep proving their cynicism right. #TheFinal5

For the people screaming that Vivek had nothing to do with the ad: Not only is he defending it, but he’s pouring *$4 million* into it. Weaponizing a deadbeat mother whose husband was credibly accused of raping her own daughter…to own the libs, or something. Disgusting behavior.
I've never really understood the disdain for Vivek Ramaswamy. The new ad with Amy Acton's abusive mom has fixed that. If I were an Ohioan, that alone would be enough to swing my vote. No normal, well-adjusted human being with a basic understanding of social cues would do that.

It takes you five seconds to learn that Amy Acton and her brother have been estranged from her mother since her mother chose to side with the man who sexually abused Acton as a child over her own daughter

If you’re wondering why the @ADL put this statement out without context, it’s because Trump used the term “Shylock” at a rally yesterday. In the past, they’ve called out other politicians by name, but not this time. xitter.cf/acyn/status/2112342320…
The term “Shylock” is rooted in a longstanding antisemitic stereotype. Regardless of intent, its use can reinforce harmful tropes about Jews and normalize language that has long been used to target the Jewish community.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The term was used (for at least the second intent in as many years) by President Trump. forbes.com/sites/siladity… Important context to point out the user of the term regardless of intent.

Government lawyers just said there "is not a contract" with Tom Fazio or his company to redesign the golf course. Trump posted yesterday that Fazio will begin redesigning the course on Nov. 15
New: Trump says that East Potomac Golf Course will close on Nov 15 for the redesign by Tom Fazio. “Restoration work will begin on the Fazio Design on November 15th, when the old Course will be closed to play. The new Course will be opened in approximately 15 months.” This comes as there is a heated legal dispute right now about whether the government can redesign the course.

The 2028 primary hasn’t started, but the positioning has. Rubio backed the Iran war and isn’t walking it back. But Vance owns the America First label too. So the fight is over which foreign policy record gets to define it. Rubio’s version asks whether force served an American interest. The restraint wing starts with a presumption against using it. Both can claim the label but only one record gets to define it.
