Eight talks, a debate on first-line ES-SCLC and a panel on patient cases from the audience: ctDNA, targeted therapy, ADCs, early-stage IO and TCEs in SCLC, in one day.
That is the International Lung Cancer Summit (ILCS) 2026, chaired by Solange Peters (@peters_solange) and Alfredo Addeo (@Alfdoc2), in Lausanne on Friday 13 November and live online. Here is the trailer. Registration is free for healthcare professionals. We would be glad to see you at CHUV, and just as glad to see you on the stream 🙂

The lung cancer community at #ESMO26 Presidential Symposium III here for Dr. Jarushka Naidoo (+1) @DrJNaidoo - discussant on phase III trial of reduced frequency IO. One of the most brilliant minds in our field - always insightful, thoughtful, balanced. #ESMOAmbassadors @myESMO

#ESMO26: An exquisite discussion by the 1@only @DrJNaidoo , elegantly and critically discussing:
➡️ De-escalation of IO desirable but with knowledge of the tumor-specific context and level of readiness
➡️ Objectify the arbitrary administration intervals
➡️Future trials to integrate robust statistics, tumor biology and IO combination impact with TKIs , chemo or ADCs

#ESMO26 Dr. Jarushka Naidoo @DrJNaidoo with a fantastic discussion on de-escalation trials in oncology. A call out on why de-escalation studies are important and their limitations. And for MOIO in particular - lessons on trial design, non-inferiority, and pragmatism. A must-listen to all involved in trial design. #ESMOAmbassadors

The trio is finally reunited! 🎉
What a pleasure to catch up with my great friends and colleagues @VivekSubbiah @Timothee_MD at #ESMO2026 in Madrid!
And what better occasion to celebrate our latest publication in the Journal of Clinical Oncology! 🍾
ascopubs.org/doi/10.1200/JC…
Great science, stimulating discussions, friendship, and a shared passion for challenging established thinking and improving cancer care.
Because science is even better when you get to share the journey with people you genuinely enjoy working with!
Here’s to collaboration, and many more papers together! 🥂

Adding chemotherapy to osimertinib, as FLAURA2 did, or replacing it with amivantamab plus lazertinib, as MARIPOSA did, improved PFS and OS over osimertinib alone, with any-cause grade 3 or worse adverse events in 64% against 27% in FLAURA2 and 80% against 52% in MARIPOSA.
Antonio Passaro (@APassaroMD, @IEOufficiale) on discussing that balance with the patient, and on the ADCs to pair with osimertinib.
He spoke with us at the @etop_ibcsg ADC workshop in Zurich.

#ESMO26 Dr. Mary O'Brien presents final analysis of phase III PEARLS/KEYNOTE-091 trial: adjuvant pembrolizumab for resected NSCLC with 87m f/u. In pts who received adjuvant chemo, DFS 58.7 vs 39.1m (HR 0.80) and no difference in survival: OS HR 0.91 with 6y DFS 69% vs 65%. In that group, improved lung cancer specific survival (HR 0.69, 6y rate 82% vs 75%). #ESMOAmbassadors

🔥 Outstanding piece of work published today in Nature Medicine!
Huge congratulations to @MartinReck2 ,@NadalErnest , @DoctorJSpicer and @AndrearicFili , and the entire MDT-BRIDGE team on this important publication! 👏👏
The phase II MDT-BRIDGE trial, investigating neoadjuvant durvalumab plus chemotherapy in resectable or borderline resectable NSCLC, tackles a clinically relevant question: how can we push the boundaries of multidisciplinary treatment and offer more patients a chance of curative-intent therapy?
This is exactly the kind of collaborative clinical research we need: challenging established boundaries, asking meaningful questions, and ultimately striving to improve outcomes for our patients.
Congratulations to everyone involved! 👏

A DLL3-targeted TCE has improved OS over chemotherapy after first-line treatment of ES-SCLC in a phase 3 trial, and an ADC aimed at B7-H3 is in phase 3 against chemotherapy in the same setting.
Nikolaj Frost, of Charité in Berlin, speaks on TCEs and ADCs at the International Lung Cancer Summit (ILCS) 2026, in Lausanne and online on 13 November, at 15:30 CET. We look forward to welcoming you at CHUV.

Practice changing data from the SARON study at #ESMO26 from @fifimcdrmh @royalmarsdenNHS
👏 Herculean effort, run over 10 years
🤔 Does adding radiotherapy to SACT in the immunotherapy era improve survival in synchronous oligometastatic NSCLC?
What do we know already?
✅ LCT improves outcomes in pre-immuno era & with AGA+ NSCLC
❌ More recently, no survival benefit with niv/ipi regimens (LONESTAR)
What does SARON add?
✅ Well designed, randomised, multicentre prospective study
✅ Comprehensive baseline assessments with PET and MRI
✅ Appropriate definition of OMD (1-5 sites)
✅ PFS benefit, and reduces progression at treated sites
❌ No OS benefit, and no reduction progression at new sites of disease
✅ No additional toxicity
Thoughts:
🤔 Great academic 🇬🇧 study 👏
🤔 Addresses important & relevant question
🤔 Presumably parents have more metastases than we can detect, which then progress, losing OS benefit
🤔 Patients must be informed of lack of OS benefit if LCT being considered
🤔 Is LCT appropriate if OS not improved?
(❗️LCT in AGA+ NSCLC, and LCT in metachronous OMD not answered here)

Presented at #ESMO26:
In patients with 𝘌𝘎𝘍𝘙-mutated and MET-altered non–small-cell lung cancer that had progressed during osimertinib therapy, osimertinib plus savolitinib (a MET tyrosine kinase inhibitor) led to longer survival than platinum–pemetrexed. Full phase 3 SAFFRON trial results: nej.md/4hXdueb

💥Interestingly, the rate of EGFRm clearance is similar between the Osimertinib plus chemotherapy group and the Osimertinib monotherapy group.
💥One hypothesis is that clearance is driven by the efficacy of osimertinib rather than by chemotherapy.
