I wrote this song because there are people around the world today trying to turn the word Zionist into something dirty — something racist, something shameful. I reject that completely. The longing for Zion is ancient. It carried the Jewish people through exile, persecution, dispersion and return. To me, Zionism means the right of the Jewish people to live freely, safely and with self-determination in our ancestral homeland. Those who try to redefine Zionism as racism should first look into the mirror. A movement that brings together Jews who are Ethiopian, Yemenite, Moroccan, Asian, European, African and from every corner of the world cannot honestly be reduced to one race or one color. This song is my answer to that accusation. You can try to change the meaning of the word. You can try to make us ashamed of it. But you will not make me ashamed of who I am. For me, Zionism means freedom. I’M A ZIONIST AND I’M FREE Lyrics, Music & Artistic Direction by Yehuda Meitav

When I watched this video of interviews it made me feel very sad. This is a problem starting with indoctrination in the education system. It needs to be challenged. It needs to be stopped. Hate is the world's most dangerous weapon.

This is absolutely outrageous. Forced to remove his medals and Union Jack 🇬🇧 badge. What is happening to this country?!
Here’s our Fred. Back to stand another day, in memory of our most brave. Fred has been spat at, called a war monger and worst of all at Brent Cross, he was told by security that he wouldn’t be able to come in and stand unless he REMOVED HIS MEDALS AND UNION JACK BADGE. Where’s the gratitude?? Where’s the respect?? Shameful Bless you Fred❤️🇬🇧 @policylaila @Alexarmstrong @EssexPR @RossKemp

Anyone planning to attend a demonstration in support of Palestine Action in the vicinity of the US Embassy on Saturday, 31 October will face arrest as part of a robust policing operation. Expressing support for the group is an offence under the Terrorism Act following its proscription in June 2025, a decision upheld by the Court of Appeal in June 2026. Wow. Your post is replete with historical revisionism and blood libels. Let’s break it down: 1. Israel’s 2005 Evacuation from Gaza: Approximately 8,000–8,500 Israeli Jewish residents of Gaza were forced to evacuate their homes, communities, and places of worship. It was not simply security forces who evacuated. The Jewish residents of Gaza who had been there for generations had to leave their homes and exhume and take their dead. The disengagement plan explicitly stated that Israel aspired to a two-state solution and a Palestinian state for the Palestinian people. On January 25, 2006, Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank voted in legislative elections, and Hamas won a majority of seats in the Palestinian Legislative Council. 2. 1948 War of Independence: Israel publicly and in writing invited its Arab inhabitants to remain and participate in the new state as equal citizens. Israel's Declaration of Independence explicitly appealed to the Arab inhabitants of Israel: "We appeal ... to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions." The Arabs who stayed behind were in fact made full Israeli citizens with equal rights under law. The 700,000 who chose to leave did so at the behest of the five Arab nations who attacked Israel, so that they could slaughter the Jews unencumbered. Approximately 150,000–160,000 Palestinian Arabs remained in Israel and after the 1948 War of Independence and became Israeli citizens. Today, their descendants constitute a substantial part (20 percent) of Israel's population (2.1 million Israeli Arabs). 3. Forced Expulsion of Jews from MENA: What you conveniently omit is that between 1948 and the early 1970s, approximately 850,000–900,000 Jews were forced out of Arab countries across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). They were not people who had recently immigrated to the region. Many belonged to Jewish communities that had existed for thousands of years, long before the establishment of modern Israel and, in many cases, before the arrival of Islam in those same territories. Within two decades, an ancient Jewish civilization all but disappeared from the Arab world. There are literally more Arab doctors in Israel today than there are Jews in the MENA. Babylon and Mesopotamia: Jews lived there for more than 2,500 years. This was one of the world's oldest Jewish communities. Yemen: The Jewish community had roots extending back centuries. Egypt: Jewish communities existed there in antiquity, including during the biblical and pre-Islamic periods. Morocco: Jews lived there for centuries, developing distinctive religious, cultural and linguistic traditions. Libya: This was an historic Jewish community extending back to antiquity. Syria: Damascus and Aleppo’s Jewish communities dated back centuries. Tunisia and Algeria: Both had long-established Jewish populations with distinctive Sephardic and North African traditions. There are less than 10,000 Jews across all these countries today. In 1948, there was almost a million. 4. The Hamas-Israel War: You (undoubtedly wittingly) failed to mention how the war began, as if it never happened, as if entire families weren’t slaughtered. Oct 7, 2023 was a genocide during which Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and Druze (men, women, children, the disabled, the elderly, civilians, soldiers, family dogs) were burned alive, gang raped, shot down, blown up, mutilated, kidnapped, starved, tortured, and executed point blank. Israel was legally and morally duty bound to defend her citizens and to try and rescue the hostages. Their lives may not have mattered to you, but they did to us. Not one Gazan family tried to save the hostages. Not 1. And yet my heart still breaks for all the innocents on both sides who have been killed in this war.
You are presenting a highly selective version of history — it is not actually what happened. Israel’s 2005 withdrawal removed its settlers and permanent ground forces from Gaza. It did NOT grant Palestinians independence or sovereignty. Israel retained control over Gaza’s airspace, maritime access and significant aspects of its borders and movement of goods and people. The ICJ confirmed in 2024 that Israel continued exercising key elements of authority over Gaza. Yes, Hamas won the 2006 Palestinian legislative election, with 44.5% of the party-list vote. That was an election across Gaza and the West Bank, not a referendum on Palestinian independence. Hamas subsequently seized control of Gaza in 2007. There have been no national Palestinian elections since 2006. Your comparison with French and German citizens is equally misleading. Palestinians are not simply foreign nationals; they live under a prolonged military occupation and are subject to extensive Israeli control without representation in the Israeli government. And your account of 1948 is deeply misleading. Approximately 700,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled during the war. The displacement involved military attacks, fear, forced expulsions and massacres. Their homes were not simply abandoned, and Israel subsequently prevented the overwhelming majority from returning. You cannot invoke Jewish self-determination while denying Palestinians the same fundamental right. Israel’s security matters, but so does Palestinian lives, freedom and sovereignty. These rights are not mutually exclusive. We have watched a genocide play out for over 2 years in real time and Israel the perpetrator denies it. Go watch NAZA and you can discredit that evidence — but history will not absolve the truth— it will continue to surface. You cannot hide a genocide.

And of course, let's not forget about Haj Amin Al Husseini, the Grand Mufti, who allied with Hitler, spent the war years in Berlin broadcasting Nazi propaganda to the Muslim world, and even formed an SS battalion, many of whom ended up fleeing to the British Mandate. Their descendants are still around today, including the Tamimi family. I'm not saying that no Muslims fought for the Allies. I'm saying that of the Muslims that did take part in World War II, the majority fought for the Axis.

C.800k Muslims soldiers, the vast majority who came from undivided India, made up 0.80% of the Muslim population there. Meanwhile, 10% of the Jewish population (from UK, Canada, Palestine, SA, Oz) fought for Britain. Where's *that* memorial on Labour's agenda? Any minute now 🙄
Andy Burnham has met with Muslim leaders this week to discuss their £1 million Muslim war memorial.

A historian dismissing anti-Jewish nationality laws as “whataboutism” is quite something. What’s wrong, Zachary, you didn’t like the reference to Jordan’s nationality law? Should we discuss Article 18(2) of Iraq’s 2006 Nationality Law then? It provides for restoring citizenship stripped for political, racial or sectarian reasons, then excludes those denationalized under the laws targeting Iraqi Jews. Or maybe Article 16(7) of Egypt’s nationality law, authorizing deprivation of citizenship for being “qualified at any time as zionist,” whatever that means? Or shall we discuss Eastern Europe? Poland, perhaps, where Jews driven out by the 1968 “anti-Zionist” campaign were required to relinquish their citizenship? Or Soviet refuseniks, denied permission to leave? Perhaps more history for the historian to dismiss as “whataboutism.” Or perhaps your response is that we should revisit discrimination against Jews once enough Jews have been killed? What an extraordinary threshold for caring. No. Sorry. The regional conflict in the Middle East produced TWO refugee populations, including around 850,000 Jews who fled or were expelled from Arab countries. Israel also became a refuge for Jewish refugees fleeing European persecution, Holocaust survivors, and those escaping later “anti-Zionist” campaigns. Jewish dispossession, and the legal exclusions that survived it, belong in this history too. And the State of Israel exists in that region, with that history. People discuss its citizenship policies, including the LoR and the National State Basic Law, and security concerns as though it were sitting between Sweden and Norway. None of this places Israel above criticism. It does mean, however, that calling yourself a historian should involve acknowledging the history that complicates your argument. But apparently we’re all very sophisticated when we peddle a popular and populist version of history that portrays Israel as the great bogeyman while disregarding its legitimate concerns for self-preservation in a region that is, to put it mildly, hostile to its existence and the safety of its citizens.

You forgot to credit the Whataboutism Industrial Complex. Shall we check back in on this grave injustice after Jordan murders 73,000 + of its Jewish untermenschen who have been living under Jordanian belligerent military occupation of the Jews for 58 years?
