We got your back, New York!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026). arkolith.com/news/news-micr… therepublic.com/?p=843020 governor.ny.gov/news/safer-str…

Liverpool have committed more fouls this season than any other team in the Premier League. Arsenal are joint 17th. Liverpool rank joint fourth in the league for yellow cards. Arsenal are joint 17th and Liverpool have one red card to Arsenal's none. Arsenal's highest entry in the most fouls committed by a player in the league is Myles Lewis Skelly at 34th, joint with Szoboszlai. There are four Liverpool players who have committed more than MLS. This is fan fic nonsense.
Sunday merely served to reinforce the belief that Liverpool as a team are far too nice. There’s a difference between being streetwise and cheating. It wasn’t pretty, but Arsenal produced a masterclass in the former in the second half on Sunday. Andoni Iraola was clear post-match that there will be a change of approach. He will tell his players to start going to ground when they are impeded in the box. It’s a sad state of affairs, but needs must. 📝 @JamesPearceLFC 🔗 bit.ly/3V3E2BJ

no, sorry, the glottal stop is an essential and iconic part of the British accent. however: there is a war on the letter t and it is being waged by the horrific Americanised soft “t” - saying it like “bridish” with a very soft d sound. this we must resist
All three surviving Traitors in the flame-lit final episodes of the BBC's Celebrity Traitors pronounced the word 'traitor' as 'trai'or'. They'd been 'recrui'ed', for better or for worse, and had 'had the hea' pu' on them' at various times throughout the series. 'This is the final murder and it's really impor'an,' said Maya Jama at midnight in the turret. 'I'm not goin' down wivou' a figh'. I'm ge'in' shivers,' said Kenny. ✍️ Ysenda Maxtone Graham Article | spectator.com/article/celebr…

More matches at the age of 22 than Lionel Messi. 87 Premier League games in a row. Bukayo Saka’s injury issues should come as no real surprise. Years of overplaying and poor recruitment - Arsenal are facing the inevitable consequences. standard.co.uk/sport/footbal…

I love Max. I don’t care about the Carabao cup either (rather have fewer fixtures in the new year). I think the challenge on him was unnecessarily heavy and a cuntish move. But if he wants to play men’s football at his age, he needs to be more mature and that’s what Mikel will be thinking. You don’t lash out, which is what he did. He kicked into him off the ball and planted his studs into the thigh of the twat who went for him. That HAS to be a red card. No ifs or buts. The smart play is to either go down holding your legs (and get the opposition player booked) or have a teammate smash him on the ball. Anyone advocating that he’s “standing up for himself” there is just as immature as Max was. Did nothing to help himself or his team. He’s only 16, yes. But if you want to play for a title challenger at 16 then you need to be wiser than that.

Humiliated but we’ll have fans celebrate the fact we ‘save legs’. Make the players walk home. One of the worst defeats in our history. Fucking idiots.

It is the first season since 2011-12 Arsenal have not scored a non-penalty set piece goal in the Premier League in their first six games of the season. [@OptaJoe]

As he was coming back from injury, @Arsenal and @SEFutbol midfielder Mikel Merino made it his mission to play in the World Cup. He wrote this for the people who helped him along the way. theplayerstribune.com/mikel-…

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Life President Ken Friar OBE. Since our formation in 1886, there have been many inspirational individuals who have driven our club forward, but no one has had an influence on Arsenal Football Club quite like ‘Mr Friar’ and he leaves an extraordinary life of service to the club as his legacy. One that will surely never be matched. Rest in peace ❤️

City won six titles in seven seasons (unprecedented), won four titles in a row (unprecedented) and won 100 points in a 38 game season (unprecedented). The idea that punishing City is a blow to league competitiveness could not be more separated from reality.
🚨 Joe Cole: 🎙 "If your the establishment, Liverpool, Arsenal, Utd, Chelsea etc.. the other clubs don't have capacity to compete." 😡 "So are we to go another fifty years only seeing Arsenal, Utd, Liverpool winning.. Rules need to be changed so others can compete" 👏 #ManCity

Good. Success doesn't last forever and when we were bad we couldn't fill the stadium. Don't disrupt our success for a few thousand extra seats and pandering to fans who had no interest in us when we were crap.
Arsenal have ruled out a move to significantly expand the Emirates Stadium beyond its current capacity of 60,704. In 2024, the north London club set up a working group led by the chief executive, Richard Garlick, to examine the possibility of extensive additions to its home stadium. It has now been decided that the club are committed to ‘continued evolution’ of the Emirates rather than a ‘huge-scale masterplan’. This would mean a focus on improvements on hospitality, retail, visitor facilities and the wider fan matchday experience. 📝 @Millar_Colin nytimes.com/athletic/7655354…

This view that City made the league more competitive is… the opposite of the truth. It’s the most dominant spell ever seen in England: - 100 and 98 points - two trebles - four in a row None of these things had ever been done before

It’s a good job Man City have always claimed they aren’t state owned then isn’t it? And if they aren’t state owned, why would there be a risk of state vengeance for something that is merely a private man’s hobby? 😃😃😃😃
In 2021, the UK and UAE launched a sovereign investment partnership, with Mubadala the lead investor. The agreement has generated £30bn in investment commitments from the UAE into Britain, overseen by #ManCity chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak. [via @FT] ft.com/content/125675ee-0d2c…
