friendly reminder to everybody including the BBC that the reason almost everybody who goes for a private adhd assessment comes away with a diagnosis is that you probably wouldn’t bother paying £500+ for an assessment for something you weren’t pretty certain you had

The argument we can't change the label BPD because of all the gains in recent years is unconvincing.
Not only is the data on progress questionable but lithium didn't stop being prescribed when manic depression's name was changed to bipolar.
We can and must change the ideology.

Rather than tell kids they have a personality disorder, we need to elaborate what we know: Some kids need more intensive work than others to have an equal chance of a good, liveable life and that is probably predictable from degree x length of distress + social disadvantage.

Funny how you can watch the interview with Harry and think there’s a decent guy telling the truth. Then you see the pile on to him from likes of Julia Hartley-Brewer, Sophie Corcoran, Dan Wootton, Piers Morgan, Laurence Fox etc and you know you are right

Hi 👋 NHS mental health doctor here. Every single patient I have provided care to with ‘Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder’ - without exception - has a history of abuse be that emotional, physical and/or sexual. No wonder many patients prefer the complex PTSD framework. – at Lambeth, London
