In honor of our nomination for the National Book Awards, it would bring me great joy to give a class set (15 copies) of WHEN STARS ARE SCATTERED to an educator. R/T and follow to enter. I'll also donate $100 to RefugeeStrong.org in your school's name. Ends 9/23, US only.

We owe it to students to do our best to pronounce it correctly.
At minimum we should try and keep trying.

How to not lose your cool w/ 6th graders:
1. If there's a multi-step process
2. Model step 1. Then let Ss practice
3. Model step 2. Let Ss practice
4. Repeat
[I lost my cool today, again]

We have begun our IDENTITY INQUIRY in kindergarten. ❤️ We began by exploring the question, What do I look like? After reading book provocations & discussing the features that make us special, we created adorable miniature peg doll versions of ourselves. #rvsed @WindsongHeights

Hi Ashley,
I share my personal narrative with my students & I guide them on sharing their own.
I find that using @WriteReaderApp encourage my Ss because they can add images.

CANNOY wait for the @WIDAConsortium conference this week. Miss my sassy 8th graders already but SO EXCITED to learn how to support them better. 🧡
Love that this is being shared with other teachers! Thanks @teacher2teacher for connecting teachers. 💛 #ELL #StudentVoice #safespace #langchat #teaching #intentionalinstruction #teachconfidence
💭 "May I have time to think...?" Banning the phrases "I don't know" and "I don't care" changed the conversation in T @MsHarperTeach's classroom. She said, "My students were amazed at how they could answer once IDK wasn’t an option!" #StudentVoice #ELLchat #langchat

When you find yourself saying “This is not what I signed up for...” remember this...yes it is, you just didn’t realize it was a part of what you signed up for. Push through the struggles and focus on the students...the true thing you signed up for.

Thank you for the encouragement! Being light is a goal of mine. 💛 Kids’ lives often convince them that they don’t deserve the world nor can they reach that point. But it’s all about the small things! Small steps are BIG victories. Developing world changers together! #ELL
