Nick Martinez getting it done in the World Series on the same day his former team, the SoftBank Hawks, also play in the Japan Series
Nick Martinez in Game 1 of the World Series: 5 IP | 5 H | 2 ER | 0 BB | 5 K | 10 Whiffs He got at least one swing-and-miss on 4 of his 5 offerings, and his velocity was up, sitting at 94 mph on his sinker and four-seam.

This is so true. Bases-loaded walk, bases-loaded HBP and all the sudden, instead of 5-1, the tying run is in scoring position for Guardians. Kelly came in and was immediately dominant. An enormous out.
Junior Caminero's & Yandy Díaz's big home runs will overshadow this moment, but this was one of the biggest turning points in yesterday's game The Rays bullpen got wild in the top of the 8th, Cleveland scored two runs to make it 5-3, & Kevin Kelly did this with the bases loaded

Freddy is one of just 3 pitchers in all of baseball this year to throw a 4-seam - at 99 MPH or harder - w/ 20 or more inches of IVB - from a 5.2 release or lower. The other two? Didier Fuentes and Brody Hopkins. Fastball Freddy is in uncharted territory for a starting pitcher tonight.
Freddy Peralta's fastball is absolutely humming tonight. He hit 99 mph with 20" of iVB for a swing-and-miss in the Chase DeLauter at-bat. He's through three scoreless innings with a 50% Whiff% on the heater.

MR CLUTCH AT IT AGAIN
This was an incredible at-bat by Richie Palacios, fouling off some tough pitches. He delivers a two-strike, two-out RBI double to put the Rays up 2-0. He's 4-for-7 off LHP this postseason.

Daniel Espino's stuff was impossible in HS.
Daniel Espino, upper 90s FB/mid-80s slider (from last night. 11Ks in 4 innings). There are HS kids who have to try to hit this. 😳🤣 Full video of his outing here: youtu.be/GjDr5mXe9eo

How good was Freddy Peralta tonight? He’s the second pitcher in Rays history (Scott Kazmir) to throw a scoreless quality start in the ALCS or World Series. Kazmir (6.0 IP) did it in Game 5 of the 2008 ALCS.

We could very well get a Nathan Flewelling Futures and Fall Stars Game MVP this season. Absolute GAMER. Rays catching depth is just insane.
All 3 baserunners Nathan Flewelling threw out last night, plus some highlights from his 3-hit game, including a 109.8 mph single.
