Today, ABC of Ohio was in attendance at the @OhioValleyABC Legacy Golf Outing, working a table right next to The TOOLS Foundation. The TOOLS Foundation is a national award-winning initiative that builds the next generation of skilled trades talent—connecting students to careers, providing tools and scholarships, and creating real pathways into the construction industry. Great news for Ohio employers! Governor DeWine has requested approval of a projected $1 billion workers’ compensation dividend. If approved, employers will have received more back in dividends than they’ve paid in premiums since 2019. Read more: governor.ohio.gov/media/news… #ABCMeritShopProud

Faster Contracts, Bigger Problems, and COSTLY Mistakes by Government Arbitrators! The “Faster Labor Contracts Act” sounds good in concept, until unelected bureaucrats step in after just 120 days and dictate wages, benefits, and workplace rules for two years. No vote for workers. No say for employers. Just rushed decisions that could run the risk of driving businesses into the ground. Read this must-share piece from Western Ohio construction leader Steve Bruns: mycountylink.com/faster-cont… At ABC of Ohio, we believe in real negotiation, not government mandates. Tell your Senators to oppose the FLCA and protect Ohio’s Merit Shop contractors, workers, and job creators! #ABCMeritShopProud #OhioConstructionIndustry #StopFLCA

ICYMI: Ohio Named #1 State for Business by CNBC! Big news for the Buckeye State: Ohio has climbed all the way from 34th in 2010 to #1 in CNBC’s 2026 America’s Top States for Business rankings. A tremendous achievement driven by conservative policies, infrastructure leadership (ranked #1), low costs of doing business (#1), and a pro-growth environment. It’s taken Ohio's leaders a lot of effort over the years to get to this point, and this momentum is especially good news for Ohio’s construction industry and our Merit Shop contractors. But there’s more work to do. Ohio still ranks 35th in Workforce and 16th in Business Friendliness. We must continue championing workforce development, apprenticeships, promote fair & open competition, as well as policies that empower skilled tradespeople and contractors who are building Ohio’s future. Congrats to @GovMikeDeWine, the legislature, and all who contributed to this milestone. At ABC of Ohio, we’re proud to advocate every day for the policies that keep Ohio competitive and our members thriving. ICYMI: @GriffinWeasel and @BCWtweeting recently sent an email to all Ohio Legislators highlighting our historic partnership with Meta to tackle the construction industry’s workforce shortage. On June 8, @Meta announced a landmark $115 million private investment in America’s Workforce Academy — launching in Columbus (one of only four national pilot sites). This program offers no-cost, 5-week accelerated training, full scholarships + stipends, and guaranteed job offers on Meta data center projects. A powerful private-sector solution delivering skilled talent through Merit Shop principles — no taxpayer dollars required. We were also excited to be present for @ABCNational's historic new partnership announcement—launching America’s Workforce Academy in partnership with @Meta. This initiative will help train the next generation of skilled trades professionals here in Ohio to meet America’s critical infrastructure and workforce demands.
