Earlier today, we participated in a workshop on the Decarbonization Roadmap for Buildings and Construction – Kenya, in collaboration with the Global Buildings Performance Network @GBPNetwork. This marked the 4th workshop and featured a validation of the Baseline Assessment Report. The workshop convened diverse stakeholders from across the built environment. Keynote speakers included Ambassador Maddens @pmaddens of the Belgian Embassy, who shared how their chancery achieved net-zero emissions, and Prof. Paul Mwangi Maringa @PaulMwangiMari1, who offered valuable insights to guide the development of the roadmap. The AAK President, George A. Ndege @arabbu emphasized the importance of formal partnerships and the active involvement of built environment professionals in shaping the roadmap. The afternoon session also featured an interactive masterclass on green financing for sustainable buildings, featuring expert insights from Mr. Sandy Okoth of FSD Africa @OkothSandy and Mr. John Kabuye @johnk_kalungi of Acorn Holdings. The event concluded with a presentation on Kenya’s NDC position paper for Buildings and Construction by Arch. Nickson Otieno @nicksonotieno and Mr. Konish Naidu of UNEP @UNEP.
