i think his leaning towards heavier historical stories with less of the facade of the lifestyle of his earlier historical films recently has garnered that reputation for him.
the camera spin on brendan fraser’s first line is also like as overdramatic as possible but tbf this movie is anything but fun. i saw it a bunch of times, and there are moments of comedic brevity, but generally a heavy heavy movie.
