This might be the first protest sign to ever reference the Board of Estimate and Taxation. Many here for the public hearing are asking the BET to set a max property tax levy that allows the park board to receive the additional $3 million they asked for.

Yesterday, Mayor Frey proposed a 2.5% Park Board levy increase, leaving MPRB $3.2M short of the Park Board’s requested 5.86% levy increase to maintain current services.
That means major cuts to park services, programs, and jobs.
Close the $3.2M gap. Fully fund our parks.

For added context this cut to the Park Board means:
A cut of $3,187,566. For a .59% total reduction of the overall property tax levy. To fully fund us it would be 11.9% as opposed to his proposed 11.3% increase.
This would be deeply harmful to our parks!

The Mayor's proposed Park Board property tax increase of 2.5% (about .5% of his 11% overall increase) seriously underfunds our parks and will result in major reductions to service levels.
The Park Board requested and needs 5.86% (about 1% overall) to maintain current service.
