This week alone I've tested 9 of fintwits' finest traders' rules on real trades.
@ShakePryzby1, half off at +4R: fewer round trips, lower average

@jfsrev, three stops: less drawdown, less profit
xitter.cf/Muninn/status/21125793…
@RossHaber, 2nd close under the 20-day: longer holds, nothing extra
xitter.cf/Muninn/status/21128714…
@Wordsofrizdom, weekly trend: didn't help
xitter.cf/Muninn/status/21129249…
@ohiain, breakeven at +3R: a wash
xitter.cf/Muninn/status/21130355…
@TMLitalia, no buys with T2108 under 30: held up
xitter.cf/Muninn/status/21125237…
@PradeepBonde, skip 20%+ run-ups into earnings: held up
xitter.cf/Muninn/status/21133000…
@InvestorsLive, wait 15 min on parabolic shorts: under half the stop-outs
xitter.cf/Muninn/status/21135922…
@RealSimpleAriel, don't chase the open: right, except the biggest winner
xitter.cf/Muninn/status/21129938…
Verify everything.
In the next update of app.qullamaggiedeepdive.com I will be introducing a new research-desk. Cant' wait to share.
Always study. Always look for edge.
@jfsrev has so many brilliant ideas and adaptions.
It's not only about bagging those big winners, but also about cutting our losses (smaller).
Jeff says that "If your win rate is below 40%, your top priority should be reducing your losses further."
I tested it on Qullamaggie's breakout trades. It reduces the drawdown by almost a third, but gives up some profits..

Are trading courses & subscriptions worth it?
What are the FREE alternatives...
When I first started trading, it was books and newspapers only .... now it is everywhere - TikTok, You Tube, Discord, Seminars, X, courses.... talk about "drinking from a firehose"! 💦
Personally, I have not found any courses/subscriptions that have “secret sauce” or resources/information you cannot find elsewhere for free - if you know of any, let me know!
Here are a few no-nonsense suggestions if I wanted to learn to trade today:
Books
After reading hundreds of books on trading, investing, human behavior etc., I found a lot of “noise”, repetition and waste (I am a slow reader!). With summer vacations here/approaching for many, below is a link to books I do repeatedly read.

You can truly meet some great people on this app and at many of the events @Traders4ACause does. You start to realize most who trade are just people. Many will have normal conversation like anyone else. Sure there’s moments of edge shared but often just that genuine connection goes a long way and keeps us sane in this stressful and often lonely profession. Just message people. Can go a long way.
Many of my smaller trading circles have developed from meeting others at these events. Which led to our own things. Trust builds over time like anything else. Group dynamics and relationships have to be nurtured and grown like anything else valuable in life.

Coreweave CEO Michael Intrator says the market is acting irrationally by selling his stock.
A run through SEC filings reveals Michael Intrator has been “acting irrationally” as well, selling $907 million worth of $CRWV shares this year alone.
His cofounders Brian Venturo and Brannin Mcbee have also been acting irrationally. The trio has sold a combined $3.3 billion of stock since the IPO. Venturo is the second biggest insider seller of any American company this year.
Their benefactors at Magnetar Capital have also been acting irrationally. They have sold more than $5.5 Billion of Coreweave stock since the IPO.
A lot of people seem to be acting very irrationally.

Guess what is going to happen in the future — we are going to get a tremendous positive breadth signal once the SPY drops a little more, because MOST stocks have already corrected so much that you have very little meat left on the bone.

Last man standing is the frontier labs, if that goes, the circular nature that allowed for capital to be artificially created will work backwards.
The circular nature of investments was and is the biggest risk of all this, it drastically increased contagion risk.
Scary times.

I’ve been part of quite a few trading communities over the years.
And one thing I’ve learned is how important it is to surround yourself with the right people.
Yesterday was a perfect example.
You’re hanging out in Ariel’s Discord, and suddenly Oliver Kell joins to share how he’s trading this market. How cool is that?
What I especially appreciate about both Oliver and Ariel is how honest and transparent they are. No hype, no pretending to have all the answers. Just real traders sharing their experiences.
That’s exactly what I look for in a trading community.
Really love what @RealSimpleAriel is building here.
Surround yourself with great traders who are willing to share. It can completely change your trading journey.

"Low ADR stocks are for people who hate money." Qullamaggie, August 2020.
Everyone I borrow ideas and concepts from related to momentum trading, from screens for this
@Peoplewish - ADR over 4%, over 5% for small accounts
@RealSimpleAriel - 3.5% minimum. "No room for turtles in my portfolio"
@BlogJulianKomar - 4.5% or more
@ohiain - nothing under 3%, sweet spot 4 to 8%
@jfsrev - "High ADR% = faster, larger, more efficient expression of edge" (Jeff probably has the best thread on this)
The only explanation why we need to trade fast moving names (high ADR) is in the image attached to this tweet. In raw numbers:
Under 3% ADR: 25% winners
Stop 1.3% away, average dip 1.2%, peak gain +6%, gain at the exit +1.2%
3 to 5%: 24% winners
Stop 1.7%, dip 1.6%, peak +8%, exit +1.9%
5 to 8%: 24% winners
Stop 2.2%, dip 2.1%, peak +11%, exit +2.2%
Over 8%: 23% winners
Stop 3.8%, dip 4.0%, peak +31%, exit +7.6%
Win-rate is basically the same. But it gets you two things:
Magnitude of the moves increases (dramatically)
AND
You get smaller positions (same risk)
Together this means you get: A smaller position (1/3 size) which makes twice as much..
@LoneStockTrader said it best a few months ago: "The edge isn't in being right more often."

Just my worthless two cents:
I think the market lacks the needed buyers to really drive bullish volume. Sure, there are buyers, but just not enough.
It's a problem over a year in the marking.
It's the reason why since October 10th 2025, we've been in chop mode, except for April to June of this year.
It's the reason for the constant rotations: there simply isn't enough money to keep multiple growth sectors running at the same time.
It's the reason why Semi's and software can't get a bid on the same day. It's the same buyers for both, and there are too few of them.
It's the reason why market breadth is shite outside of mags and a handful of other sectors.
It's the reason why $PLTR, $DELL, $NTAP, $HPE can act great, but another 5000 stocks do not. What few buyers that are active are concentrated in a few stocks.
I know what the constant institutional bid looks like and feels like in the tape. It's that guardian angel that protects you from having consequences for your bad habits. It rewards you for believing that an invisible safety net is present on every dip buy.
The market doesn't give me any of those vibes and hasn't done so for some time.
I don't know what the buyers are waiting for: lower oil maybe, political change, or an end of the war. Who knows.
Normally, the institutional buyers see past the problems of today. They see the future solutions to today's problems we small time traders can't see. We just ride their coattails.
My guess is as of right now, the institutional buyers don't see any solutions to today's problems either, which is troublesome.

Here’s a 4hr brain dump on position sizing featuring my brother @RealSimpleAriel
youtu.be/0A1ttxYhqhc?is=cHQN…
Here’s how I look at swing trading: you’re trying to build a composite of momentum leaders at the right times. With that in mind, it makes no sense to oversize any single name. You want a basket of the fastest-moving stocks that meet your account’s liquidity constraints.
Think about a 100% position in one 7% ADR name versus 20 equally weighted positions averaging 7% ADR. Same total allocation and weighted average ADR, but the single-name position carries far more company-specific risk.
And during the environments that actually pay swing traders, there’s absolutely no need to concentrate in one name. A whole basket of momentum leaders emerges and rips higher. Once you truly embrace this, the need to oversize disappears.
There’s the position sizing math and the risk of something specific to one company going wrong: key person risk, bad news, some fluke outlier event. But there’s also the mental side.
Say you put 50% of your account, or your entire account, into one stock. It sits there while everything else on your watchlist goes up. What do you do? Sell it, chase something else higher, then get chopped out on the pullback? It becomes a vicious cycle.
Instead, you could start with 10% positions and build a portfolio of high-momentum, high-ADR stocks with enough liquidity to support your sizing. You get exposure to the group without needing one particular name to lead every day.
No one ever talks about this, but it’s foundational to my approach. Think about the movement potential and liquidity of the portfolio as a whole. You’re essentially building your own ETF. The goal is to capture as much movement as your account’s liquidity constraints reasonably allow, without depending on a single stock.
If you need to zoom in for a precision entry, fine. I get that. But once you’re in, zoom back out. Focus on the key higher-timeframe levels if you must, but really, set your stop at invalidation and let your stop, trailing rules, and take-profit triggers do their jobs. You don’t need to babysit every candle.
This is also my key indicator of whether the market is conducive to swing trading: can I build a portfolio of leaders, keep adding names, and increase my allocation as existing positions work? Or, for every name I add, am I getting stopped out of another? If nothing sticks, that tells me something.
In a healthy market, before you know it, you’ll have 10 positions on. As you manage your exposure and make room for more names, that can eventually become 20. For me, getting to that point is usually a signal that things may be due to cool down a bit.
Run your scanner properly, filtering for stocks liquid enough to support your position size / speed, and you’ll build a portfolio of fast-moving, liquid names. A composite of momentum leaders.
Long story short, oversizing as a swing trader is a complete waste of time.
Lots more to add on this. Maybe I’ll do a chart talk on it soon?

The S&P 500 is the Joneses’ house. Looks fantastic from the outside, near all-time highs. And that’s who we’re all trying to keep up with and beat.
But general market breadth tells you what’s going on INSIDE the house.
If only 20% of stocks are above their 20-day MA, that beautiful house might be infested with cockroaches.
Your watchlist is your own personal, curated breadth, your household. You mind your own business, keep to yourself, but you can't help looking at Joneses.
Your curated breadth (watchlist) along with your actual trades (minus execution mistakes), tells you how hard to press.
Right now, the Joneses’ house looks fantastic from the street.
But let’s go inside and see what’s really holding this thing up.
Remember that Nikola semi-truck video? Looked great rolling down the road.
Turns out they just rolled the thing downhill.
Looking good and being healthy are two very different things.

With only ~20% of stocks above their 20-day moving average, much of the correction has already happened beneath the surface.
Individual stocks have corrected.
Now the question is:
Who catches up to whom?
Do the major indices finally catch down to the average stock?
Or does broader participation start to improve and pull the rest of the market higher?
That’s the setup I’m watching. 👇
