This is important. Liberals have to take this seriously. Nothing you say about any other issue will matter if your belief in democracy and human rights ends up creating societies like pre-Bukele El Salvador.
El Salvador is rightly famed for its strides on public order, but most people don’t grasp the brutal extent of previous gang rule or the complex dividends peace affords. All kinds of mundane and essential public goods re-materialize now that people can walk around, ride transit, and go about their lives without being terrorized.
This historic square used to be patrolled by warring gangs, and housed an informal economy of corrugated-tin shanties where subsistence street vendors forfeited much of their meager income to “protection” rackets. No formal economy is possible if thugs might burn or smash or sabotage any capital improvement you make. Now, there are ordinary shops lining this downtown area — and even early Christmas decorations.

3. As a state representative in 2022, Shah voted against Senate Bill 1138 (SB 1138). That bill prohibited physicians from providing specified irreversible gender-reassignment surgeries. He wanted to keep children from getting medical care because he likes tyranny's too.

Allison Albro told them it was a joke. No Glock, no gun at all. Detectives searched her home with her permission and found none.

Slotkin "won" by 19,006 votes. There were 1,869,580 duplicate registrations processed in Michigan in 2024.

The Unity & Justice Fund - CAIR Action’s Super PAC, the one Nihad Awad himself celebrated as the vehicle that “makes or breaks political campaigns” and the one that dumped tons of money into the main outside PAC backing El-Sayed.
They announced that they have spent heavily on canvassing in Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, and Hamtramck.
Their own video brags: 30,000+ doors knocked, 500 shifts, a quarter-million texts, and 20,000 phone calls.
They took credit for the massive turnout spikes in those Muslim-majority areas and called their infrastructure “battle-tested.” Of course they fundraised to double it and drag El-Sayed across the finish line on November 3.
That Super PAC exists because terror-tied CAIR launched it in 2024 specifically to turn the post-October 7 moment into electoral power.
Awad told the room the real money is in the Super PAC and that they must “protect America from itself.” Awad also said he was “happy to see” Gazans “breaking the siege” on October 7.
CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation case - the largest Hamas-financing prosecution in U.S. history.
El-Sayed’s own father-in-law is a past president of CAIR-Michigan and a major donor to the pro-El-Sayed outside effort. Dozens more CAIR officials and affiliates have written checks directly to his campaign.
