A landmark essay in @Equatormag by one of the foremost Palestinian intellectuals today on why the western mind represses the reality of the Palestinian catastrophe in order to salvage the rotting fiction of its own moral innocence. Essential: equator.org/articles/moral-s…

I am beyond saddened to learn of Samar Hammam's passing. We met several times in her final days, discussing book business. She never let on about the severity of her illness, and just kept showing up with care. "Care" is the word I associate with her, because that's what I felt from her. She was a light in the world, a quiet kindness, a brilliant mind, a fierce defender of her authors. My deepest condolences to her family and everyone at @rockingbooks.

Her letter to her mother is among the most devastating pieces of writing you will read this year.
