Thanks @schalleklab @MarcoslabUr @DWilliamsLab @SaraSPatterson @HuxlinLab #Mcgregorlab #lenzheleznyak & all @CvsUor @FlaumEye for a warm homecoming visit! A lot has changed in #rochester, but @UofR is still a mecca for #vision #imaging & wings at #distillery are still the best!
Fantastic talk by Ram Sabesan @SabesanLab in #Rochester last week hosted by @FlaumEye. Optoretinography in the living eye. A merger of science, engineering and application! @CvsUor @URNeuroscience @UofRBME @RochesterOptics

Sam,❤️ the paper!Kudos! Aligns with human RP where we see reduced function with ORG but near normal visual sensitivity! There are cones that exhibit normal function despite abnormal reflectivity, even when healthy. We reckon the latter are effects of waveguiding & interference.

Seattle-area folks, please consider re-tweeting the original to help us boost the signal. We're so excited to be able to (safely!) get back into the lab to conduct research that cannot be done remotely.
Our COVID protocols are approved, our research assistants are trained, and we're ready to collect data again! We're looking for Seattle-area folks aged 9 to 64 with a history of amblyopia (aka "lazy eye"). If this describes you or your child, please get in touch!

New paper in @CurrentBiology! We find a new, unexpected blue/S-cone neuron: M2 ipRGCs. Their Blue-ON input challenges coding hypotheses underlying classic color vision models & establishes a new short-wavelength input to non-image-forming vision @jay_neitz cell.com/current-biology/ful…

Excellent editorial and study from @RussVG (former) and @surgeonretina and team (latter). Important information that will help us better support clinican-scientists, who bring so much perspective, compassion & knowledge to their research careers! @UWMedicine @umichmedicine
Clinician–scientists play a vital and unique role in academic medicine. Despite their value, clinician–scientists are becoming an endangered species. Read more in these two new articles, just published today: tinyurl.com/yxoahys8 tinyurl.com/y2tymnxb

“A finding present in a large proportion of patients with COVID-19 would be of great potential diagnostic value. However, many, if not all, of the OCT findings reported by Marinho and colleagues represent normal retinal anatomy.”
Our letter "Seeking clarity on retinal findings in patients with COVID-19" just came out (submitted in May in response to a questionable OCT interpretation): thelancet.com/journals/lance… We used our @NatEyeInstitute & @MedicalCollege supported image bank to mine pre-COVID scans...
