Read this & weep !
In two to three years time, when Starmer and his government are no doubt deeply unpopular, I hope we in the media will ask ourselves: "Why were we so supine during the long 2024 election; why didn't we hold Labour properly to account while we could, and ask more probing questions, and explore their records, rather than give them such an easy ride?".

The current chancellor has NEVER had a job outside of a union or the Labour party.
Let that sink in for a minute.... He is 66 and has never had a proper job!
Anyone surprised that his budget was useless?

They don’t know what they’re doing
Downing Street says the government *won't* be setting out a timeframe for reducing the benefits bill before the next election - despite what John Healey said.
“The chancellor is completely in line with what the PM has said over the last few months that the welfare bill needs to come down and we are not setting an arbitrary target or timetable on that," the PM's spokesman said.
"Both the PM and the chancellor have been crystal clear that the welfare bill needs to come down, and that we need to do that in a progressive and sustainable way and not through crude cuts which push people into hardship and puts pressure on the system elsewhere.”

Good morning @BowenPies
Your plea for some breathing room from the Chancellor didn't fall on deaf ears - the nation heard it, and the troops are coming.
I've just bought one of your Mix & Match pie boxes, and am sure others will support you too.

This is the reality for business owners across Britain.
It’s what I hear from businesses in Beaconsfield, Marlow and the South Bucks villages.
Labour just do not get it.

This video is just devastating for Labour.
It couldn't be worse for Andy Burnham, than a northern piemaker destroying their budget - straight down the camera lens, clearly and passionately.

This is astounding. The government's own figures show working-age welfare will go up by £60 BILLION by 2030, yet the Treasury has to rush out and correct the Chancellor to say there is no timetable for cutting the benefits bill. Looks like foot in mouth syndrome is spreading.
John Healey couldn't even find £10 billion to get defence spending to 3% of GDP - the thing he quit over.
Don't let anyone tell you this was a 'do no harm budget'. In doing so little, Labour have harmed our economic security and they've harmed our national security.

Truly a must watch. Also for the disbelief on the side of the presenters . Few get business.
