The whole point of this is to show he's at his lower mentally. While his revenge is legit, he's wrong for doing this but that's the point: before this arc he's shown to rescue them, but in this one he leaves Suigetsu and Juugo behind and stabs Karin.

There is a weird thought process where people think a tragic character deserves an equally tragic end, when in some cases that COULD work; for Boruto specifically, I see his goal of reuniting the Uzumaki family together including him.
Whether it’s a sad or happy ending I can imagine for e.g Boruto seeing everyone happy as hes all alone, protecting the world from the shadows, OR a happier ending where everything’s normal and he reaffirms that to endure, no matter what… is what it means to be a ninja 🤧
I don’t see Boruto nor Kawaki (he’s more likely though) dying at all. I think a lot of people forgot Boruto will mark the end of the Naruto franchise as a WHOLE too. We’re probably gonna get a happy alls well that ends well ending (which is not bad btw)
