As a man, if you’re fortunate enough to marry a woman who not only knows how to cook but genuinely loves being in the kitchen, my brother, you’ve won in life. You honestly have no idea what your stars have done for you. There’s something special about coming home to a good, homemade meal. Good food, made with love, is one of life’s underrated blessings.

A man should not have to pretend he enjoys being a father just to keep his marriage. When Daniel and I got married, he was clear that he didn’t want children. I agreed because I genuinely thought I felt the same way. Four years later, I changed my mind. He didn’t. We argued about it for months, and eventually I told him I could live without having children as long as I had him. Then my younger sister had a baby. Something changed in me after that. I started babysitting, buying little outfits, and imagining what our own child would look like. Daniel noticed, but he never changed his position. I began resenting him for a decision he had made before we got married.

A woman with high femininity doesn’t usually complain of men being controlling. Most ladies that call men controlling are the ones who want to enjoy the benefits of being married while they still live their life as single lady. Any woman that wants to be happily married wont have issues submitting to the man she married, they do it willingly.

Lawyer: So why do you want a divorce? Me: My husband stopped touching me. He said there was no point because I couldn't give him a child. Lawyer: Okay... and then? Me: Then I found out he was cheating. For months. He said he needed a woman who could give him a child. Lawyer: And you stayed after you found out? Me: I was trying to. I was praying. I thought maybe if I just loved him harder, he'd come back. Then he came home one night and told me he got infected. Lawyer: Infected with what?

My neighbour's friend’s husband chased her out of their matrimonial home, declaring that he was no longer interested in the marriage. They have five children together and one stepdaughter. He told the woman to leave the house without the children. He even insisted that she leave her 17-year-old daughter behind, despite not being her biological father, because he has been responsible for her education. The woman has now travelled back to her village to stay with her family after spending five nights sleeping in the corridor of the house. She's a full-time housewife...

I got married barely two months ago, and my company gave me one month off to enjoy my honeymoon. After returning from our honeymoon, I started preparing to resume work, but my husband told me he doesn't want me working anymore. He wants me to resign and become a full-time housewife. For context, I earn ₦300k monthly, and my husband said he would give me the same ₦300k every month so I wouldn't have to stress myself working. My husband is financially comfortable. In fact, he bought me a car just three days ago, so I don't think money is the problem...

A lot of people treat marriage like the reward for finding the right person. In reality, it’s the start of having to keep choosing that person on ordinary days when nothing feels special. The feeling gets you into it. The decisions keep you in it.

My mother-in-law had four children, all married and living comfortably. She had never been abandoned financially. Her children paid her bills, sent money for food and made sure she had everything she needed. But there was one thing she rarely received: visitors. Whenever she called, someone was either travelling, attending to work or preparing for another family commitment. One Sunday, during our family lunch, my husband complained that his mother had been calling him too frequently. His younger brother laughed and said, "Mummy should understand that we all have our own families now." I didn't say anything. A few days later, my daughter asked if we could visit Grandma. I mentioned it to my husband, but he said we would go another weekend. My daughter insisted. Eventually, he agreed to take her. When they returned that evening, my daughter was unusually quiet. I asked what happened. She said, "Mummy, Grandma was so happy to see us. She kept bringing out biscuits and asking me to sit longer. When Daddy said we were leaving, she asked if we could stay until evening." Then she added something that broke my heart. "Grandma told me she sometimes dresses up on Sundays and sits by the window because she hopes one of her children will visit."

Married men, the day your wife starts speaking to you the way she speaks to the children, the marriage has already changed. The respect is gone. You are no longer the man she looks up to. You are just another person in the house she manages. This does not happen overnight. It happens when you stop being the leader of the family, and start acting like a kid. A wife can respect a strong man. She will not respect a man she can correct like a boy.

My husband and I had been married for eight years. His best friend, Michael, was practically part of our family. He attended our birthdays, family dinners, and even helped us move into our new house. One Saturday, my husband travelled for work, and Michael came over to return some documents. While we were talking, he suddenly said: Michael: "Can I ask you something personal?" Me: "Go ahead." Michael: "Have you ever wondered why your husband doesn't want another child?" I laughed. Me: "That's between me and my husband." He looked down.

I discovered my wife had been secretly saving money for three years, and what she told me afterward made me question our entire marriage. My wife and I have been married for nine years. We both work, share household expenses and have always agreed to discuss major financial decisions. Last month, I was helping her organize some documents when I found a bank statement showing a balance of $67,400. I had never heard about the account. At first, I thought it was an investment account she had forgotten to mention. When I asked her about it, she became defensive and said every woman should have money her husband cannot access. I asked why she had hidden it for three years. She said she started saving after watching her parents go through a bitter divorce. She wanted to know she could survive financially if our marriage ever ended. I felt hurt because I had never given her a reason to believe I would abandon her. Then she said something that made the argument worse...

My father refused to attend my wedding because he couldn't accept that I was marrying a divorced man. He told me I was embarrassing the family and that I should find someone without “baggage.” My fiancé had been married before, but his previous marriage ended years earlier. He had been honest with me from the beginning, including the financial obligations he was still paying off. My father refused to listen. A week before the wedding, he called and demanded that I cancel everything. I told him I wasn't going to abandon someone I loved because of his past. He eventually learned that my fiancé had been making regular payments toward his previous marital debt and had never hidden anything from me. My father still didn't attend the wedding. It hurt, but I married the man who had shown me honesty and respect.

My husband and I have separate bank accounts, but we also have a joint account where we save money for emergencies and things that concern our family. Everything was going smoothly until his younger brother needed surgery. According to my husband, his brother needed urgent medical attention, so he withdrew a huge amount of money from our joint account and gave it to his family without discussing it with me. When I found out, I asked him to refund the money because that account belongs to both of us and neither of us should make such a major withdrawal without the other’s consent. But he called me wicked. What made me even angrier was that he reminded me of how I failed to help my own younger sister when she was almost losing her leg after an accident. Let me explain what happened.

My sister can't have kids, so I agreed to be her surrogate. We signed a legal contract where she and her husband would pay me $40,000 for the physical toll, lost wages, and recovery time. I delivered a beautiful, healthy baby boy two months ago. Yesterday, she came over and asked me to give the $40,000 back. She said that since we are blood, I should have done it purely out of sisterly love, and she wants the money to set up a college fund for the baby.
