Being an MMO fan who actually wants to be optimistic about the genre is fucking exhausting sometimes. Every new game, update, announcement, system, whatever ~ it feels like the community is immediately looking for a reason to hate it. Pessimism and outrage bait have become the default MMO discourse.. and it’s even worse when known faces in the space are constantly pushing negativity toward every MMO that isn’t their “main game.” At some point I just want to play games and be excited about shit again 😂 I played Aion 2 KR/TWN basically non-stop for 2 months straight and only stopped because my DPS/gameplay was being limited by ping. “Generic Asian P2W MMO” - from people who quest for 3 hours while watching YouTube on a second monitor and suddenly become experts on everything the game has to offer. 🫩 I see this with the launch of every new MMO now. Content creators aren’t even racing to experience games anymore. They’re racing to be first with the most clickable, overly negative take they can spin up after seeing 10% of what the game has to offer. Y’all are boring. If I enjoy a game for 3 - 4 months, MMO or otherwise, that’s a W in my book. Not every game needs to become a “forever game” (whatever that even means) to have been worth playing.
