ethereum:native | Why Decentralization and Neutrality Matter Subtitle: How Did Swiss Banks Become Global Wealth Management Leaders? Recently, I've noticed an interesting shift in how the crypto market is being perceived. At some point, decentralization and neutrality seem to have taken a back seat, while crypto is increasingly viewed simply as a more advanced version of traditional financial infrastructure. Of course, transaction speed, lower fees, and scalability are important. But I don't believe crypto's true competitive advantage lies solely in being more efficient than the existing financial system. Why do decentralization and neutrality matter? I believe we can find part of the answer by looking at how Swiss banks became a global center for wealth management. 1. How Did Swiss Banks Attract Wealth From Around the World? At the end of 2024, Swiss banks managed approximately CHF 9.3 trillion in assets, with around 45.5% belonging to foreign clients. But have you ever wondered why? Why did wealthy individuals from France, Germany, and Italy entrust their fortunes to Swiss banks rather than banks in their own countries? Was it because Swiss banks consistently delivered the highest investment returns? I believe the real reason was something else. Between the 17th and 20th centuries, Europe experienced countless wars, revolutions, and political upheavals. The Thirty Years' War, the French Revolution, the Napoleonic Wars, World War I, hyperinflation, and World War II. For wealthy Europeans, preserving wealth wasn't simply about maximizing investment returns. They had much more fundamental concerns: What happens to my wealth if war breaks out in my country? Will my property rights survive a change in government? What if my country's currency collapses? Will my children be able to inherit my wealth safely after I'm gone? Meanwhile, Switzerland's permanent neutrality was internationally recognized in 1815, and the country subsequently maintained a relatively high degree of political stability. The Swiss franc became one of the major currencies that preserved its value particularly well over the long term, while Swiss banks developed expertise in wealth management and financial privacy. Against this backdrop, wealthy Europeans increasingly used Swiss banks to separate part of their fortunes from the political and economic risks of their home countries. Of course, Switzerland's success also reflected financial expertise, legal stability, and international banking capabilities. But underneath these advantages was something even more fundamental. Switzerland offered a neutral financial safe haven where people could separate their wealth from the political risks of their home countries. As capital continued flowing into Switzerland, its financial expertise and wealth management services expanded, attracting even more international capital. This created a powerful self-reinforcing cycle. In a sense, what Swiss banks were really selling wasn't simply deposits or investment products. They were selling trust built over generations. 2. Could Ethereum Become the Digital Switzerland? I believe the competitive advantages developed by Swiss banks offer an interesting framework for understanding the importance of Ethereum's decentralization and neutrality. Imagine JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, and Citi each building their own blockchains and issuing stablecoins. Technologically, they could develop highly efficient financial infrastructure. But there would be a fundamental problem. Would Goldman Sachs fully trust a blockchain controlled by JPMorgan? Would European financial institutions want to place trillions of dollars in assets on a network controlled by an American company? Would competing financial institutions accept a system where one company could unilaterally suspend transactions or change the rules? These concerns could become increasingly important as more financial assets move onto blockchain networks. Consider what happened in 2022, when certain Russian banks were excluded from SWIFT following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The episode demonstrated that access to international financial infrastructure can be restricted by legal sanctions and geopolitical developments. Of course, SWIFT's implementation of sanctions and transaction censorship on a blockchain are not identical concepts. Nevertheless, the example helps explain why financial institutions might want to reduce their dependence on any single operator or jurisdiction. Eventually, global financial institutions may begin asking a different question: "Is there a shared financial infrastructure that no single company or country can unilaterally control?" I believe Ethereum could become one of the leading answers to that question. 3. Why Could Decentralization and Neutrality Become Competitive Advantages? Just as Switzerland was neither French nor German, allowing wealthy individuals from different countries to use its financial system, Ethereum's independence from any single financial institution could become a powerful competitive advantage. Ethereum doesn't belong to JPMorgan, Coinbase, or Google. Competing financial institutions can transact on the same blockchain without having to trust a competitor's proprietary infrastructure. And this is where things become particularly interesting. Instead of relying on trust in a counterparty, participants can rely on an open protocol and the consensus of a decentralized network of validators. Of course, Ethereum isn't completely immune to censorship. For example, centralized stablecoin issuers such as Circle can freeze certain token addresses. Nevertheless, there is an important distinction between using a network controlled by one company and participating in a decentralized network that no single company operates exclusively. I believe this neutrality is one of the fundamental competitive advantages that distinguishes crypto from traditional financial infrastructure. 4. The Larger On-Chain Finance Becomes, the More Valuable Neutrality Could Be Today's blockchain-based financial markets are very different from a hypothetical future in which a substantial portion of global financial assets has moved on-chain. Imagine blockchain-based financial assets growing from: $1T → $10T → $100T What would happen if a single corporation controlled the infrastructure supporting that much financial activity? That company could potentially exercise enormous influence over transaction approvals, network access, fees, and operating rules. Would competing financial institutions and sovereign governments willingly accept that level of control? I'm not so sure. In fact, the larger blockchain-based finance becomes, the stronger the incentive may be for participants to use a neutral, shared network. This is why I believe Ethereum's decentralization isn't merely a technical characteristic. It could become an economic competitive advantage. Tom Lee has also suggested that future banks may issue stablecoins on Ethereum and potentially participate in ETH staking to help secure the network. If that scenario materializes, Ethereum could evolve beyond a blockchain used for transferring digital assets. It could become a shared settlement infrastructure for global financial institutions. Of course, banks don't necessarily need to stake ETH themselves in order to use Ethereum. And the success of the Ethereum network wouldn't automatically guarantee appreciation in ETH's market value. We would still need to evaluate how network adoption translates into transaction fees, ETH burning, staking demand, and ultimately economic value accruing to ETH holders. 5. Perhaps What Ethereum Really Sells Is Trust For generations, Swiss banks offered wealthy individuals around the world something more important than simply higher investment returns. They offered confidence that part of their wealth could be separated from the political risks of their home countries. I believe Ethereum has the potential to provide a conceptually similar form of value. There is, however, an important difference. Switzerland's neutrality has been supported by its political institutions, legal system, and international standing. Ethereum's neutrality is rooted in an open protocol and a decentralized network. Recently, much of the conversation around crypto has focused on how much faster and cheaper transactions can become compared with traditional finance. But I believe a more fundamental question may eventually emerge as global finance moves on-chain. Instead of asking, "How fast and cheaply can transactions be processed?" We may increasingly ask, "Who has the power to control the network?" Just as Switzerland became a global wealth management hub by building trust and maintaining neutrality over generations, could Ethereum eventually become a shared financial infrastructure built around decentralization and neutrality? I believe that possibility is one of the most compelling reasons to study Ethereum from a long-term investment perspective. What do you think? $UBER | Why Uber's Competitive Position Could Actually Strengthen as Autonomous Driving Advances The advancement of autonomous driving technology is widely considered one of the biggest investment risks facing Uber. The concern is that as Waymo and Tesla expand their own autonomous ride-hailing services, they could weaken the competitive position Uber has spent years building. However, as Uber's management has pointed out, advances in autonomous driving don't necessarily mean Uber's competitive position will weaken. In fact, they could make Uber's platform even more valuable. Here's why. 1. Developing Autonomous Driving Technology and Operating a Ride-Hailing Platform Are Two Different Things Autonomous vehicle (AV) companies are developing technology that allows vehicles to operate safely without human drivers. But developing autonomous driving technology doesn't automatically mean a company can build a platform capable of efficiently matching millions of customers with available vehicles. In ride-hailing, what matters is the ability to position vehicles where and when customers need them, minimize waiting times, and maximize the number of paid trips each vehicle completes. Uber already has an enormous customer base and driver network, allowing it to match supply and demand across different locations and times of day. AV companies can certainly build their own platforms. But by using Uber's existing network, they may be able to reduce customer acquisition costs and improve vehicle utilization. 2. Vehicle Utilization Is Just as Important for AV Companies Even without human drivers, autonomous vehicles still incur significant costs. Vehicle purchases, depreciation, insurance, charging, and maintenance all need to be paid for. The challenge is that ride-hailing demand isn't consistent throughout the day. If an AV operator deploys enough vehicles to meet peak commuting demand, many of those vehicles will sit idle during off-peak hours. On the other hand, if it sizes its fleet around average demand, it risks having too few vehicles during peak periods, leading to longer customer wait times. Uber can address these fluctuations through a hybrid network that combines autonomous vehicles with human drivers. In its Q3 2026 earnings discussion, Uber stated that AV partner vehicles operating on its platform completed approximately 30% more paid trips per day than independently operated AV vehicles in the U.S. That difference matters. Even after paying Uber a platform fee, AV operators could potentially achieve higher profitability through improved vehicle utilization. More paid trips per vehicle can spread fixed costs across a larger number of rides, improving fleet economics. This creates a clear economic incentive for AV companies to partner with Uber rather than operate entirely independently. 3. The Portion of Uber's Profits Actually Exposed to AV Competition May Be Smaller Than Investors Think When evaluating the threat from autonomous driving, the key question isn't simply how quickly the AV market is growing. It's how much of Uber's existing profit base is actually exposed to direct competition from autonomous vehicles. Today, AV companies are primarily expanding in major metropolitan areas with high population density and relatively favorable operating conditions. But Uber's business extends far beyond major U.S. cities. In 2026, Uber management provided the following figures: Top 20 U.S. cities: Approximately 30% of U.S. Gross Bookings Top 20 U.S. cities: Approximately 25% of U.S. profits Other U.S. cities and suburban markets: Approximately 75% of U.S. profits In other words, even within the United States, a substantial portion of Uber's profits comes from outside its 20 largest cities. And that's before considering Uber's international Mobility operations and its Delivery business. Let's make a few assumptions. Suppose Mobility accounts for approximately 60% of Uber's total profits, and the U.S. generates roughly 60% of Mobility profits. Applying the 25% profit contribution from the top 20 U.S. cities gives us: 60% × 60% × 25% = approximately 9% Under a scenario where AV competition remains concentrated in the top 20 U.S. cities, approximately 9% of Uber's total profits would be directly exposed to that competition. This is a scenario-based estimate, not a forecast of actual profit losses or a permanent ceiling on AV-related risk. However, it helps put the potential near-term threat into perspective. In suburban and lower-density markets, AV operators may face weaker fleet economics because they need to deploy expensive vehicles to serve relatively limited demand. Uber, meanwhile, can use human drivers to respond more flexibly to demand in these areas. Therefore, even if autonomous vehicles expand rapidly in certain major cities, that doesn't necessarily mean a large portion of Uber's total profits will be disrupted in the near term. Uber could continue growing its business in suburban and international markets where direct AV competition remains more limited. 4. Autonomous Driving Could Expand the Entire Ride-Hailing Market Rather Than Simply Take Market Share From Existing Players As autonomous driving technology improves, lower operating costs could eventually lead to lower ride prices. That could unlock demand from customers who previously considered ride-hailing too expensive. Even if Uber loses some market share, its trips and profits could continue growing if the overall ride-hailing market expands fast enough. Consider the current difference in scale. As of September 2026, Waymo was operating in 15 U.S. cities and completing approximately 500,000 paid autonomous rides per week. Annualized, that's roughly 26 million rides. Now compare that with Uber. In Q3 2026, Uber completed approximately 4.06 billion trips across its platform, averaging around 44 million trips per day. Of course, Uber's total includes both Mobility rides and Delivery orders, so these figures aren't directly comparable. But there's another revealing statistic. In its Q4 2025 earnings discussion, Uber management stated that the incremental annual trips generated by its Mobility business alone were approximately 50 times the total number of autonomous rides completed worldwide at that time. At the time, autonomous vehicles accounted for only about 0.1% of the global ride-hailing market. In other words, Uber wasn't just operating at a much larger scale. The additional rides generated by its existing Mobility business were themselves substantially greater than the entire autonomous ride-hailing industry's volume at that point. Uber's established customer base and transaction volume represent competitive advantages that new AV operators may find difficult to replicate in the near term. Of course, these gaps could narrow significantly as autonomous driving technology improves and AV fleets expand. But rapid growth in autonomous driving doesn't automatically mean Uber's existing business will be replaced anytime soon. 5. The Biggest Winner in Autonomous Driving May Not Be the Company With the Best Driving Technology The long-term winner in autonomous mobility doesn't necessarily have to be the company that develops the most advanced autonomous driving system. As AV technology becomes increasingly commoditized and more companies enter the market, the ability to connect different AV fleets, allocate customer demand, and maximize vehicle utilization could become even more valuable. This is where Uber's platform may have a structural advantage. Of course, if Waymo or Tesla successfully build their own dense customer networks and offer rides at lower prices than Uber, that would represent a genuine competitive threat. Uber also faces the challenge of investing capital to expand its autonomous mobility operations. But concluding that the advancement of autonomous driving automatically means Uber's decline may be too simplistic. The more AV companies enter the market and compete with one another, the more valuable a platform capable of connecting those fleets with customers could become. Ultimately, the key question isn't just which company can build the best autonomous vehicle. It's which company can operate those vehicles with the greatest economic efficiency. What do you think? In the autonomous driving era, who will capture more of the economic value: the companies developing AV technology, or platforms like Uber? $UBER This post is not a recommendation to buy or sell any particular asset.
This image is essentially the AV thesis playing out long-term for $UBER. What I have come to realize over the past year is that AV tech will in fact be commoditized. Immense AV competition in a fragmented market means NO ONE can reach critical density in any given market. Guess who ALREADY has critical density in essentially every market? Uber... 2030 and beyond Uber will have more market share with lower per ride input costs while the demand for mobility, delivery, and freight continue to balloon.

Let’s start with three assumptions that we consider rock-solid. 1. Government spending will continue to grow. 2. The government will need more currency debasement to finance that spending. 3. Wages will not keep up. If we had to distill this into a single point, it would be: You can’t outrun the money printer by working harder. You need to own the right assets or fall behind. Owning inflation-resistant assets matters more than income, though income still matters. Let’s zoom out and look at the big picture. The following chart tracks gold, the S&P 500, the money supply (M2), median housing prices, wages, and the CPI over the past 62 years. According to the rigged CPI, prices rose 977%, while wages rose 1,179%. The official numbers claim that wages have outpaced inflation since 1964. Yet anyone with eyes to see and a functioning brain knows that claim is false. Reality lies in a different ballpark. The government uses the CPI as misleading propaganda to conceal its atrocious currency debasement. The growth in the money supply provides a better measure of the damage. It grew 5,775% over the same period. In other words, wages kept pace with about 20% of the currency debasement. Relative to the money supply, wages lost about 80% of their value. To us, this better reflects reality and provides a sound benchmark and hurdle rate. If your wealth does not grow at least as fast as the money supply, you are losing ground and heading down the road to serfdom. Median housing prices rose 2,070%. Housing outpaced wages but failed to keep pace with currency debasement. Gold and the S&P 500 outran currency debasement. Now let’s look at the same data starting in 1999. It tells a similar story. According to the CPI, prices doubled, rising 100%. Wages rose 140%, outpacing the government’s official inflation measure. Housing rose 156%, beating wages but falling far short of the 427% increase in the money supply. The money supply has grown to more than five times its 1999 level. That is why $1 million does not buy what it once did. The S&P 500 rose 523%, with currency debasement driving much of that increase. Gold won, rising 1,549%. This illustrate the main implication of the currency debasement megatrend: You can’t outrun the money printer by working harder. You need to own the right assets or get left behind. Housing has not kept pace, and we do not expect it to. You need to own gold and the right stocks if you want to outpace currency debasement. Remember, this process compounds. Year after year, asset prices and capital gains grow faster than wages. Over time, this dynamic has created a deep divide between asset owners and wage earners. We expect that divide to widen. In this age of ever-increasing currency debasement, your top financial priority should be to join the asset-owning class, where your wealth grows and compounds with currency debasement. Otherwise, you remain a wage earner chasing fiat dollars that lose value each year. In the fiat system, owning assets pays better than selling your labor. And it’s not even close.

Waymo is reportedly targeting 20,000 robotaxis by the end of 2027, versus just 2,000+ on $UBER platform But Uber already has roughly 120,000 vehicles committed by its AV partners over the coming years The market is too focused on who's ahead today. Uber doesn't need to win the autonomy race. It needs enough players to win it I think Uber eventually flips Waymo in fleet size, and the market is underestimating that possibility

Yeah this. Crypto has actually done pretty badly in terms of prices since Trump’s inauguration. His erratic and destabilising nature is not good for an already hyper volatile market at the edge of the risk curve. It seems that crypto actually does better under adversarial conditions, even if the vibes are not as fun. And I highly suspect it will get adversarial. The anti-crypto Warren set have been biding their time and will want revenge. I’d say it’s good that their prime focus is anti-AI hysteria now, but unfortunately the shared outcome of raging against an inevitable future is forced orbings for all. Remember, the U.K. continued on the Kamala timeline and we literally tried to revoke people’s fundamental civic rights unless they got a digital ID. We continue to censor speech at a disturbing level and the one data centre we were building got cancelled. America does everything bigger and better of course, so I would expect open war on tech, KYC accelerationism and at least a solid attempt at wealth taxes. There is however a couple of years under the actually good new SEC guidance to get some serious progress done and who knows how good AI will be by then. Pray for more open models and privacy tech.

"It really surprised me that Gillette lost position." HOKA, On, ASICS, Brooks, New Balance
$NKE — THIS IS WHERE THINGS GET INTERESTING. Just look at these two charts. Could we be approaching the capitulation phase of the market cycle? To be clear, there's still no confirmation that the final bottom is in. Even a further decline toward $20 remains possible. But I strongly believe $NKE deserves the attention of every long-term investor. The biggest opportunities often emerge when sentiment is at its worst. What's your outlook on $NKE?

Average Joe: "I don’t trust Bitcoin because it about 7 lines of code to change the quantity from 21 million to 21 trillion." Congratulations. You've discovered that Bitcoin is software. Groundbreaking. Here's what you missed: changing the number in the code is trivial. Getting the network to run your code is the entire game. And to raise the cap, you'd need every node runner and every miner to voluntarily slit their own throat. To vote to make the very asset they hold worth less. They pointed at the dollar. "It's inevitable, just like the Fed." That comparison doesn't save their argument. It buries it. The dollar was debased by decree. A handful of men in a marble building, printing at 2 a.m., and the debasement flows first to whoever stands closest to the spigot. You never got a vote. You got the bill. Bitcoin is the opposite machine. Nobody can inflate it at your expense, because the only way to inflate it is for everyone to agree to inflate their own holdings at the same instant. The moment the 21 million promise cracks, confidence evaporates, the bid vanishes, and every coin, including Saylor's, including the miners', becomes worth less in minutes. 17 years. Not one successful attempt. Because you can't bribe a network into cutting its own throat. The dollar asks nobody's permission to steal from you. Bitcoin requires your permission to steal from you. Who's voting yes?

More bad news for Google: “Right now, the best models are capturing the lion’s share of enterprise,” said Deedy Das, Partner at Menlo Ventures. “Our data shows that frontier labs capture nearly seven of every ten dollars spent on enterprise AI, up from half last year. Anthropic grew its share of enterprise API spending from 40% to 55%, while Google fell from 21% to 9%. That’s how quickly the competitive landscape can change."
