Residents of Bronkhorstspruit and Zithobeni, as part of final preparations to get clean water restored to communities, the process of flushing and cleaning the water system is underway.
Tap water should only be used for flushing toilets. The City will indicate once the flushing process is complete. @CityTshwane
Residents of Tshwane, this afternoon I made a visit to the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant. As part of final preparations to get clean water restored to communities in Region 7, the process of flushing and cleaning the water system has begun.
What this means is that water is being pumped from the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant to feeder reservoirs, in Zithobeni and Ekangala and others. This process will result in large amounts of water flowing through the system and likely onto the streets surrounding these reservoirs.
Some residential properties may be affected with water flowing into people’s homes. The reservoirs will still not be supplying water to residents at this stage, but should you see water following in your tap, please do not use it.
This process is part of the final stage of cleaning the system and restoring safe and reliable water supply to hundreds of households in Bronkhorstspruit and in the surrounding areas. @CityTshwane

Throughout the Bronkhorstspruit water crisis, I have led the City’s response with two priorities: restoring safe drinking water and ensuring accountability for the failures that brought us here.
We have made significant progress in rehabilitating the treatment works, but restoring water cannot mean sweeping the failures that caused this crisis under the rug.
That is why I have insisted on a broader, independent forensic investigation into the entire chain of responsibility, including procurement, operational management and administrative oversight.
Where negligence or misconduct is established, consequences must follow.
The residents of Tshwane deserve both safe drinking water and a municipality that takes accountability seriously.
