Here's an astonishing stat: Just over half of all visas granted to care workers in 2023 were sponsored by employers that have since lost their licences, mostly due to fraud or abuse. That’s ~200,000 people once you include dependants. None of them have had their visas revoked.

If Ken Paxton and Bo French lose, the old GOP establishment will use that to try to undo everything that has happened within the Republican Party since 2015. Of course they’d do that anyway regardless of the final outcome, but a loss would seemingly validate their argument that the GOP must return to Bush-era compassionate conservatism. The vibe shift that America has undergone since 2022/2023 would be in danger of slipping back into one where the Chamber of Commerce types reclaim control of the Republican Party.
