The full suite of what OpenAI's building with ChatGPT is magical. A client has strict requirements for AI use. Precludes many apps. We discussed it in Slack. Dropped my Dot in the thread and asked for a ChatGPT Site that uses only approved models. Done in under an hour.
There were a few hiccups, and typical AI artifacts. First, it got confused about incorporating an OpenAI API key, telling me it could only be done server side, whereas I can and did add one manually in site settings. Second, I asked it to incorporate WebMCP so agents could use it easily, and it wasn't able to properly test this was working. Third, there are lots of little unnecessary text elements and callout boxes all over, all that self-referential stuff that AI loves to add.
But overall, pretty awesome. We hit a barrier, discussed solutions, sent my Dot to build something custom to solve the problem, and it built and launched it in less than an hour.

The orchestrator turns a conversation into multiple intents by exploring the users’ possible needs.
Embedding-based search finds candidate ads, then eligibility and relevance checks narrow the pool.
The auction tool handles final selection and pricing.

We built ChatGPT’s ad stack to respond to an evolving conversation, while ensuring answers stay independent.
Here’s how the LLM orchestrator, retrieval, ranking and auction tools work together.

Over the past two months, we have been leading a coalition to mitigate one of the most severe bugs in open source software found in recent memory, php2shell, found as part of our Patch the Planet initiative.

Similar to our results on math, we have been using internal frontier models to find and fix security vulnerabilities in order to help protect the world's software.
Today we are publicly disclosing php2shell, one of the most critical security vulnerabilities of the last few years, which was discovered using GPT models.
Rather than throwing the vulnerability over the wall, folks internally have been grinding to build out patching and detection mechanisms in collaboration with external parties. We also confidentially disclosed these issues ahead of time to many government and external agencies.
OpenAI models helped researchers—operating as part of our Patch the Planet initiative—discover critical security flaws in PHP, an open-source programming language used to run an estimated 70% of websites.
Over the past two months, we led a coalition of maintainers, researchers, and security providers to prepare fixes and protections ahead of disclosure. This duration was necessary because the fix was quite intricate and required a major change to the PHP engine. Every site using PHP can now safely upgrade their version to stay secure, in addition to applying mitigations from various security vendors.
Due to the severity of these flaws and PHP’s widespread use, we consider this bug to be one of the most impactful vulnerabilities in recent memory. It also marks a new phase, where AI can find security bugs with internet-scale impact.
This is an example of the Defender’s Window in action: to our knowledge, frontier AI was able to find this vulnerability ahead of attackers, giving defenders time to prepare.

OpenAI may claim a role in the coordinated response and patching process. But the initial discovery and exploit development, however, occurred several months earlier by an independent researcher.

Today, we're bringing OpenAI models to Google Cloud's model garden.
We're now the only hyperscale cloud provider offering access to all three leading closed source LLMs—alongside 200+ other models—on a unified enterprise platform → goo.gle/4zJ0VZQ
php2shell is the most consequential vulnerability I have ever helped discover. I am proud of how our team worked closely in coordination with the PHP Foundation to provide support and to harden the patch in preparation for this release.

“Since we launched ads just over eight months ago, over 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns on ChatGPT. Today, we’re expanding ChatGPT Ads to 26 additional countries, extending availability to 89 countries worldwide. This launch builds on our recent expansions across Europe andSoutheast Asia and Taiwan.”

GPT-Rosalind surfaced a new lead for drug discovery: could restoring cholesterol transport protect neurons from degeneration?
DCTN1 is a gene linked to Perry syndrome, a rare neurodegenerative disorder. In mouse-brain data, disrupting it increased expression of genes involved in making cholesterol. GPT-Rosalind suggested a possible explanation: cholesterol may not be reaching where neurons need it.
That gives scientists a specific mechanism to test and, if confirmed, a direction for developing new treatments for neurodegenerative disorders.
With @perturbai_tx and @scrippsresearch, a team of thousands of GPT-Rosalind agents worked in parallel, connecting gene-expression results from millions of mouse brain cells with scientific literature in just 32 minutes. We’re now expanding this collaboration to identify new drug targets.

“Over the past two months, we led a coalition of maintainers, researchers, and security providers to address critical vulnerabilities in PHP, an open-source programming language used to run websites and web applications. Calif identified a critical flaw using GPT‑5.6 Sol as part of our Patch the Planet initiative, with Wiz also independently discovering and reporting both vulnerabilities. PHP’s maintainers led the fixes and release, with our teams and partners like Wiz, Cloudflare, and others contributing research, technical support, and coordination to prepare protections ahead of disclosure.”

You can now choose 12-hour prompt caching in the API.
Persistent agents, like dots, reuse context throughout the day.
You can keep shared instructions, tools, and context cached longer and pay the lower cached-input rate, even when requests are hours apart.
