We're getting the map. The team is already at work on it, extracting geographic details from the text and assembling appropriate fonts, etc. The next stretch goals is interior illustrations. Depending on how we close in the last few days, there may be multiple rounds of interior illustrations. When we unlock those stretch goals, we'll also unlock a high-end add-on--you'll be able to be the model for one of the illustrations. While I was sick, I did some casual work on the third Dragon and Crow novel. I'm... going to need to make a map.

I have three notebooks: One for daily plotting, currently committed to finishing the Party of One trilogy. One for the Dragon and Crow series, which is also on book three (of four? five). And a final notebook for my magnum opus, The Silence at the Center of the World.

I might have to re-watch the Office (oh no! lol) but with Japanese dubbing. This is great.
Here is the "Hardcore Parkour" scene from The Office Japanese Dub.

So Kickstarter itself has been running ads starting today for "Witchstarter," its Halloweenish-themed offerings. And they are featuring my books. So that's cool. Learn more about the Witchy War and back the Kickstarter campaign here: kickstarter.com/projects/hap…

The story of a reader I started as a reader. I think most writers do, and those who don't were never there for the writing in the first place. So, a reader.

And then, once I had processed the grief of all the reading I'd missed during college, I started to write again. What's funny is that I never stopped writing. I just stopped writing for the love of reading.

So ever since, I've only written what I loved to read. Maybe my tastes don't align with the current trend. Maybe I'm too weird, or too tainted by the literati, or corrupted by the commercial fantasists. But this will always be true: I write what I love.

If I wrote more books that I didn’t enjoy, more people would enjoy them.

I've known @DavidJohnButler for years. (Interviewed him way back when his first middle-grade book was coming out with Knopf.) He's kickstarting a beautiful new set of hardbacks for the complete series of "Witchy War." Written as an alternate-history fantasy with real depth, it's worth checking out! 🧙‍♀️🪄 kickstarter.com/projects/hap…

We have crossed $45,000 this morning. If you're a little unsure about Kickstarter, here's how it works. We are not raising money for a charitable cause, we are collected PRE-ORDERS FOR BOOKS. Specifically, an epic American fantasy trilogy. (By the way, the "Kickstarter" or "pre-order" price of the books is cheaper than the retail price will be later, especially if you buy all three.) The books are written. We will ship them with their sprayed edges and their endpapers and probably their interior art, too (I am confident) probably in March. At the link below you can learn more about the series and the campaign and you can back the project (which means, you can pre-order the books, and buy T-shirts and caps if you like): kickstarter.com/projects/hap…
