1/7 We are deeply concerned that Arts Council England’s new guidance for funded organisations will censure the freedom of expression of arts institutions and gag artists, especially those working in the activist or political space.

Reading @StepheHarrop's wonderful, searching new book on the current generation of women storytellers, while devising & rehearsing a new performance myself, is like setting off a box of firecrackers in my head. And on a Sunday morning too! /1

The latest British Social Attitudes survey, released today, shows a sharp rise in prejudice against trans people. Only 64% say they are ‘not at all prejudiced’ - a huge fall from 82% in 2019. We are alarmed, but sadly not surprised. And this is a shift that benefits no-one.

A steadily growing body of scientific evidence demonstrates that "rapid-onset gender dysphoria" claims do not reflect transgender adolescents’ experiences and that “social contagion” is not causing more young people to seek gender-affirming care. trib.al/nSQ70Fq

115 years ago today, a man arrived in a small Western town and before anyone even learned his name he somehow died eating paste. The town buried the stranger and gave him a memorial stone. Nobody knew him, but they still wanted the future to know he was here once, he was alive.

Q: How can very technical, scientific research that doesn't use human participants use storytelling? A: Speaking to an audience, being personal, using emotion, and structure. And leaving space for the listener to join the dots.
