The whole “they’re accusing me of dual loyalty” routine rings a little hollow when some of the most prominent El-Sayed complainers have explicitly said “I’m in a tough position because of my dual loyalty to both the US and Israel!”
I don’t think people realize how radicalizing it is watching people call Jews concerned about antisemitism and terrorism guilty of dual loyalty.

Haley Stevens’s betrayal of the Democratic Party is not just a story about one individual deciding to change sides. This is the story of how a politician backed by $30 million in explicitly pro-Israel campaign spending lost her primary and proceeded to back the Republican chosen by those same pro-Israel mega donors for the general election. We need to talk openly about the role of Israel in our elections. Not doing so is to invite pro-Israel money to continue shaping the actions of candidates in both parties at the expense of their parties and constituents. My coauthor Ian Lustick and I wrote Israel’s Lobby: America in the Grip of a Foreign Power to warn about this danger. bookshop.org/p/books/israel-…

Newsom refusing to go all-in on condemning Haley Stevens’ backstabbing MAGA support is a great example of those political instincts he’s got that’ll bring him absolutely nowhere in 2028.

This Haley Stevens 11th hour betrayal should be a wake up call for 2028 that anyone who takes AIPAC money is completely compromised

Wow. Former Stevens, Biden, and Harris staffer, on Haley Stevens: “…I quickly learned that she was bought and sold by AIPAC. A Democrat from the middle of America, obsessed with foreign interests and willing to sell herself and us out for it.”
In 2022, I worked for Haley Stevens’ campaign. Over my time working there I quickly learned that she was bought and sold by AIPAC. A Democrat from the middle of America, obsessed with foreign interests and willing to sell herself and us out for it. 1/4

Haley Stevens’ betrayal today shows us it’s not that progressive Democrats, or even democratic socialists, need their own party. It’s that politicians like Haley Stevens always had more in common with Republicans like Mike Rogers and Donald Trump than with the Democratic base. And now she admits it. That’s why it’s so important to run democratic primaries. It’s not enough to send Democrats to Washington, we have to send Democrats who are fighting for the things working class voters want!

This is such an obvious escape hatch for the mercenaries and hacks who supported her. Stevens entire campaign was propped up by Trump donors, Paul Singer wasn’t throwing millions at her for funsies, they both knew the score and this type of intervention was always on the table
Ex-Haley Stevens aide @caitleg says @HaleyforMI's fiancé pushed her to be more pro-Israel. LEGACKI: He was increasingly pressing her to more forcefully defend Israel. Jason wanted her to have a big Aaron Sorkin moment.

Andy Levin reminds people that Stevens beat him in 2022 by arguing that as a pro-choice woman, she was right for the Dobbs moment. Four years later she’s on the other side of that issue.

McMorrow: “This is not a surprise to a lot of us who have known Haley Stevens for a long time. This is how she operates behind the scenes. If she doesn't get her way, she threatens people.” “People are finally starting to see who she is.”
‼️Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow slammed Democrat Haley Stevens’ endorsement of Republican Mike Rogers as a “sad, desperate attempt to be relevant” just days before the election. “It feels like it’s more about her feelings than Michiganders,” McMorrow said, accusing Stevens of abandoning her constituents and alleging a pattern of threatening political opponents. “If she doesn’t get her way, she threatens people,” McMorrow said. “People are finally starting to see who she is.” McMorrow also said that Stevens’ endorsement has backfired, galvanizing support for Abdul El-Sayed: “I don’t think this has had the effect that Haley thought it would. It has pissed people off in a big way.”
