I stopped being a journalist, but I didn't stop seeing stories, so here's a running list of ideas. If you're a North Carolina reporter looking for a story, have a look --> docs.google.com/document/d/1…
Rarely do I whine "Why isn't this a bigger story?" But this qualifies. Have any NC Republicans spoken up? Will no one to stand up to the president?
Budd was there. Whatley was there. Buckout was there. It's Murphy's district. What about NCGA leaders?
Does no Republican care?
“If we don’t win, there’s no money."
Just an unequivocal threat from the commander in chief.

Glad to see this as the lead on some coverage. Absolutely incredible that a president of the United States - even this one - would threaten military families like this.
“If we don’t win, there’s no money,” Trump said. “If we do win, you’re getting it.” #ncpol

This is such an awful thing to say - to threaten. It's not like he's saying the votes won't be there if Republicans lose. He's saying: I, the president of the United States, will only take this action to help the poisoned families of US Marines if my party wins.
Unreal. Every member of Congress representing eastern NC, and every candidate, should speak out on this. youtu.be/PZK6YWjEuQI?si=vamI…

Real leaders fight for the people, not for power. To condition doing the right thing by sick North Carolinians on who wins the election is foul.

Truly staggering stuff.
Hegseth and Rubio are at the center of it, too. Bookmark this one.
New: The Trump administration committed the U.S. to taking a large stake in a Venezuelan company, some of whose owners and investors are shielded from public view. The exact details of the agreement over oil fields had remained unclear — until now. propub.li/3UdAtIG
I want pollsters to add a question to series like this. Any time support collapses I want people asked for introspection.
Do you blame yourself or nah?
The word we generally use for acting in direct contravention of legislation enacted by Congress is: crime
After a bipartisan meeting with President Zelenskyy, it is clear that the Trump Administration is acting in direct contravention of the legislation Congress enacted last month providing for sanctions against Russia.
As a result, we must pass bipartisan legislation that imposes sanctions on Russia with no waiver being allowed.

early voting advice for weekdays this week (lines will get longer week of Oct 26) - based on Wake and Durham hourly voter check-ins in images, shortest lines will be 4pm to 7:30 pm or at 8 am. Longest lines 10am-3pm (times when voter checked-in, not when they got in line) #ncpol

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) & Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) have alarming readout of their conversation with Vlodymyr Zelenskyy:
“Pres. Zelenskyy confirmed that critical Starlink services remain degraded, including on systems traveling at speeds above 100 miles per hour, impeding Ukraine’s ability to intercept Russian drones. He also reported disruptions to U.S. intelligence sharing concerning early warning of Russian ballistic missile launches. As a result of these disruptions, civilians – children – are dying"

Also is this a Geico or a Texas Chainsaw movies reference, I'm not sure which and am curious @ThomTillis “We have chosen the proverbial chainsaw shed time and time again, kowtowing to the White House’s every demand, even when we know the end result is going to be a bloodbath"
