They are killing children.” Israeli forces shot 10-year-old Palestinian girl Amal Abu Khater in the back, killing her instantly as she sat eating lunch inside her displaced family’s tent in western Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on Monday. Amal had just returned from memorizing the Quran and performing the Dhuhr prayer, her family told Drop Site. “There were people who felt safe, sitting in their tents. It’s supposed to be a safe area, and it is full of displaced people,” Amal’s relative Hassan Abu Khater told Drop Site’s Mohamed Ahmed. “What did she do to deserve to be killed? She was sitting and eating sweets... What sin did this little girl commit?” Amal’s grandmother, Samira Abu Khater said. 💢 🇵🇸 After a five-day settler siege of the West Bank village of Qusra, south of Nablus, the Israeli military evicted around 20 besieged Palestinian families from their homes on Thursday, while the settlers who laid the siege were allowed to remain, according to Haaretz and the Israeli rights group Yesh Din. 🔹Yesh Din said the outcome was the settlers' goal all along: soldiers took over the besieged homes and additional houses in the village, while the settlers stayed on the ground. "Violent settlers, with the army's assistance, have expanded the Israeli takeover deeper into Area B," the group said, referring to the part of the West Bank where Palestinians nominally hold civilian control under the Oslo Accords. 🔹The siege, which cut off water and electricity to three families, drew rare US criticism. Ambassador Mike Huckabee called it a "horrific act of terror" and "disgusting," and Ynet reported that US officials were questioning why Israel was allowing “anarchy” in the West Bank. One of the besieged homes belongs to a Palestinian-American from Ohio, Loui Ridi, whose brother and teenage nephew were trapped inside. 🔹Even the Israeli army acknowledged the settlers’ conduct, calling it “illegal, reprehensible and unacceptable activity,” and said it had dismantled settler structures. In a later statement, the military said its soldiers had been deployed “to protect the residents,” that “the Qusra residents will remain in their homes,” and that troops would not operate inside the besieged Palestinian family’s home, an apparent walk-back after Haaretz reported the army had moved to evict families. Yet footage showed the families had not returned to their homes, and some soldiers were earlier filmed praying alongside settlers. The UN, which says it has documented more than 1,430 settler attacks in the West Bank this year, warned the territory is at “breaking point.”

Israeli forces shot 13-year-old Saba al-Hashash in the Al-Iqlimi area of al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, in Gaza, on Saturday, August 8. She died of her wounds yesterday, becoming the second child in her family killed by Israeli fire in just over a year. Her relatives say Saba was sitting in a makeshift mosque prayer area memorizing the Quran when a bullet struck her. Muhammad Al-Rabai'a described constant Israeli tank and quadcopter fire on displaced families living in tents: "A child goes to memorize the Quran and is directly targeted." Salem Al-Rabai'a, a relative, told Drop Site Saba's sister had been killed in the same area the previous year: "Last Thursday was the anniversary of her sister's death, and today the second sister was martyred." She was in the prayer area memorizing the Quran.” Samoud Al-Rabai’a said her daughter Saba al-Hashash died after Israeli forces shot her on Saturday, August 8, as she went to recite to her Quran teacher in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, in Gaza. “Everyone in the mosque was a child, no older than 15, along with their teacher,” she told Drop Site, describing Israeli tank and quadcopter fire directed at the prayer area. “Why target children? Don’t they know where they’re shooting?” Saba was the second of Samoud’s daughters killed by Israeli fire. Her other daughter was five years old and disabled. “She was sitting in a wheelchair beside her father. A bullet went into her heart.” Najwa Abu Rabi’ said Saba had come home, eaten and gone to recite the Quran. Shireen Abu Rubi’a described bullets striking children “while they’re playing or eating,” asking: “What are you supposed to do? 🇺🇳 Israeli forces shot and wounded a sixth-grade student inside a tented classroom in Gaza City on August 4, the UN reported. A day earlier, Israeli forces demolished homes in Beit Lahia and destroyed the last remaining school in what had been a four-school compound. The UN says Israeli troops had already pushed into the area the previous week, advancing between the agreed “Yellow Line” and Israel’s “Orange” coordination line (which marks areas where Israel blocks humanitarian staff from entering). There, Israeli forces destroyed tents sheltering nearly a dozen families in the schoolyard and installed new cement blocks, further expanding the territory where Israel restricts civilian and humanitarian access and forcibly displacing the families sheltering there. New advances were reported in Rafah overnight. Under the roadmap presented by the Board of Peace, Israel is required to withdraw to the original yellow line that encompasses 53% of Gaza before the second phase involving decommissioning and simultaneous withdrawal kicks off.
